Anyone Else Tried This Instead Of Tar

Never fancied trying grinding my rims, or the mess of tar. But I am sitting here with a can of 3m "Spray fix" in my hand - it's a kind of adhesive used for temporary sticking down pictures and the like.

Leaves a really sticky residue on whatever you spray it on.

Look at bike rims - look at can of spay fix Hmmm...

Anyone tried it ?

I wouldn't bother if its anything like monty brake spray. Horrible stuff, makes a mess of your rim.

I never wanted a grind, thought it was pointless, and stuff. But i persuaded myself to do one, but with a stanley knife. Then i got a grind, and haven't looked back.

Tar is also good for on/off braking. Not good for manuels or what not.

My advice is not to spray that on your rim. Try Zoo! greens, they are pretty rad without a grind or tar.

Hi Boumsoung - yes i am - well near to anyway - i live now in Shepshed just up the road.

Aha its actually called spraymount - I use this spray all the time at work - its not very sticky, kind of like a removable low tack glue, goes on very thin if you want....

If i get brave / bored / stupid and try the spray I'll post on here and let you know how i get on

Hey you ever tried pouring coke on your rims it actually works with it being an acid and it sticks it causes it to give the same effects of tar.

(N) its ok for about 2 minutes then your brake goes really crap and you wish you've never put it on, also it makes a god awful high pitched squeak so i advise not to go there.

As for the spray stuff, you might aswel give it ago and if it doesn't work clean it off. If you do tell us what its like.

cheers lee

Hairspray works pretty well too, i couldn't get hold of any tar and was reluctant to use it so i just got a cloth covered it in hairspray and wiped it round my rims, and then left it for about 5 minutes so it could dry.

It works pretty well, and doesn't make loud sound either, and it smells good :P . It lasts a fair while too unless you get your rim really wet (Y)
