UrbanPoet
Second-hand widescreen off eBay. Search for ones in your area, you can get a beast for that amount of money.
MadManMike
I'd not go for second hand plasma or LCD - the early generations (ie what'll fall into your budget second hand) may not have much life left and will likely be out of warranty. For your budget, look for a CRT - ok, they're bulky, but a good LCD TV is over £399 - I know this because that's what I sell in my shop ;-)Also is there any need for Pure Flat Screen?Picture-wise no - unless you have High Def sky box / dvd player.Space wise yes - less space taken and can be mounted on the wall - not really a 'need' - more of a 'want' for most people. endofreak
My local Tesco were doing a widescreen 28" TV for £149 for a while. Might be worth checking them out to see what they have.If you have no luck there Argos do a 28" 4:3 TV for £150. HERE

I think he was talking about flat Screen CRTs, the ones with the completely flat front but they still use the old CRT. And I think most of the time its so you can put them in cabinets and the look nice and flush.
MadManMike
Ah, yeah flat CRT are a bit pointless - like you say, just good for looking flush, and I think the viewing angle is a bit better with flat ones.Let's be honest, who sits looking at their TV almost side-on? It feels like looking at a goldfish bowl on a regular crt.
Krisboats
Flat CRT's are way better than regular ones in my opinion. It feels like looking at a goldfish bowl on a regular crt. There's also the fact that 'technically' they'll have less reflections on them because they can only reflect whats directly in front of them, whereas a curved screen one manages to reflect a wider angle of reflectable stuff.
