The 15-year-old boy was riding his BMX near the paddling pool in Markeaton Park, Derby, with a group of friends when the tragedy happened at 7.30pm on Saturday. A member of the public called an ambulance and the youngster was taken to Derbyshire Royal Infirmary but died later that evening.Police do not know what caused the accident. A spokesman said: "We will be carrying out a full accident scene investigation similar to a road traffic accident to determine how it happened."He was with a group of friends at the time. Endohopper
"...Initial inquiries suggest the boy was not riding quickly...."Well us trials riders should be fine then allright then . Seems a bit naive to associate riding slowly with safety . Must have taken an incredible impact to pierce the sternum or push ribs aside , my condolences . Dangrego
RIP Alan. a few of your speculations are correct, riding at slow speed. Less than walking pace infact, slipped, landed on his bars chest first, no bar ends or grips. Really nice lad too
