Orange have tempted me over with a schweet contract, and the only phone on their site I liked the look of was the W810i. I know some people on here have used them, so what's the verdict?

Si - did it live up to the f**king massive hype you built up for it?

Thanks for any help ;)

I don't have one, but i was talking to a friend who works in a phone shop, and he was absoloutely bumming it. Would have bought one but the bike came first.

They look nice as f**k and are fairly small and light, so they're good for riding.

i have one.. i had the w800i as well.. and i have to say.. the w800i was better than the w810i.. the joystick pisses me off the most.. it has one.. but you only use it to like "enter" not to move between selections.. even though it does rock in all directions you have to use the arrow keys to actually highlight stuff. Apart from that it is exactly the same as w800i. No difference from what i can see to be honest.

Cheers dude :) I haven't tried an 800i, but they're not on the contract phone list anyway, so would you say that the 810 was actually worth getting or not? There are other Nokia and various assorted phones on there, but the 810i looked like it suited my needs. Just didn't wanna get a phone I was gonna rape in all manner of ways and be stuck with my hella old school Nokia for a year and a half til my contract's renewed :P

my mate has one but it got nicked (not be me :-lol) and its a quality phone. very light and small and it perfect if you like to listen to MP3 but dont want tthe hassle of carrying a phone AND an MP3 player.

it feels a bit rubbery and cheap but its a very good phone overall.

or you could wait and get the W950i :-

due this month apparently but im not sure

i think it looks the bees bollox. TOUCH SCREEN!

Love mine, not broken, took it to beach, around sand and stuff, works still. Although after getting some of the pictures of, it decided to lose connection to my pc, not tried it since.

Only thing i've noticed is the battery on mine doesn't seem to be great. :S

As for breaking when riding, it didn't when i had it in my pockect, but i put it in my bag now, and its been fine.

The screen is starting to get scratched a bit, but doesn't effect it to much.

Although i would look around at other phones, as they are getting quite interesting lately.

I should probably point out I don't really mind too much if it's not got the best mp3 storage or not got the best camera, as I have an mp3 player and dSLR that are both better at doing what I want them to do than a phone will ever be :P

ive been with nokia for around 5 years now, and always had the top of the range models.

got my w810i around 3 months ago, and im LOVING IT.

it completely owns any nokia that has gone before. so its good, really good.

does everyhing a phone should, has a WICKED camera, and the mp3 player is seriously good, comming with a 5 band equaliser, and the best headphones ive ever used.

i <3 my w810i

i have had this phone for around 2 months now, absoloutley amazing. i was a bit worried about changing diffrent moddels of phone but thuis is one of the best phones on the market by miles in my eyes.

the only problem i had was with signal, but thats the tariffs problem not the phones but otherwise than that its been spot on. A lot better than previous SE's ive had and the scrolly thing on this phone doesnt scroll its just used as a enter, but does wobble to and fro a hell of alot like previously said. They have improved a lot over the years.

Ace phone, go for it.

Stick with a Nokia. (Y)

I had the choice of any phone orange do, (which turns out the N91 wasn't included ), was looking at the W810i, but made the better choice and went for the Nokia 6280. It's tough, great 2mp camera, looks great, has officially replaced my iPod, great games etc etc.

Definately try out out.

W810 is a smashing wee phone. The camera is great, takes better snaps than other brands thanks to the auto focus. MP3 player is top notch, headphones are hard to beat.

I personally can't stand Nokias any more. Nokias were praised for their ease of use, but the menus on the new phones are awful.

My W810i is amazing, i have dropped it a few times whilst drunk and it has with stood it perfectly, the memory card (512mb) is a good size as it hold about 100 songs with about 50 pictures stored, definitely worth the purchase, only 1 snag with it, the back cover can come off really easily, i almost lost mine but luckily found it :D

oo cock. ive got a w800i not the 810 - ignore one of the "it's great" votes

same inside though i think - they're very nice to use and the walkman business is great.

bit of orange trivia:

falling in rivers from a punt with your phone in your pocket is covered by orange insurance - new phone, next day delivery, £15 excess, no buggering about.

  • 2 weeks later...

Pwn3d those o2 fags. Told them I was leaving. They gave me a counter offer. Said "Nah, 'fraid not cuntfeatures, still no deal." So they've now said I can have 750 minutes, X-network, any time and 750 texts for £25 a month, incl. a W810i. Admitedly that does mean they've been royally shafting me for 3 years 'cos I paid £25 a month for 100 mins and 500 texts, but meh...

W810i should be here Saturday :)

Don't you just hate it mark.

When my contract's up i will be taking them for EVERYTHING.

I've lost my k750i I got at the start of the contract, been using a shitty k300i which has just bust, and now getting a nokia to do me untill the contract is up. Im also paying £25 a month, and getting something like 200 minutes and 500 texts, but it f**k's me off how one person get's something another can't, until you threaten to leave, it's the same with broadband.

I'll be making sure to get the highest spec sony available, along with a deal to match, or better what they've offered you.

YEah, they slightly upped my Mum's deal, and said she could have - at best - a K750i. Then we sorted mine out, and they went "Tell you what, d'you want the same deal as this contract?" So she said "Yeah", and now we both have the same deal (whereas before she paid £35 a month for cover + 200 mins and 500 texts, I think). It's funny to see just how much they totally ream you for

Get a friend to help you, and say to o2 you're in an Orange shop or something, and then set up some kind of bidding war for your loyalty. That'd get you a kick-ass deal :P
