David
Hey, Ive been kayaking for a few years now. Nothing serious at all , mainly just long paddles down rivers with some small rapids. Ive just come back from holiday and I visited the national white water centre in Bala, Wales. I really want to get into kayaking more and try some white water. Im after a white water kayak, ive seen a lot of pirhana's around and im wondering what are the best makes etc? Hopefully joining a kayaking club sometime soon so I can learn all the rolls properly etc Thanks,Dave
Fishy
Pirhana is a good make. I'm not an expert or anything, best bet is to have a look in the white water rafting shop in bala, they specialise in the extreme shizzle. It's on the corner last time I went. Opposite the big butchers.
David
Yeah, paddleworks I think. Had a look round, £800 for a white water kayak, there not cheap but I can see where the money goes.
ken_nic
I think your best bet is to join a club and have a go in everyone elses boats. You need to get the correct one for the type of paddling you want to do, and it needs to fit you. Second hand is also the way to go for your first one.Happy paddling! Mark W
Weird you mentioned this today, seeing as I'm getting my first go in a kayak ever tomorrow. My Dad bought a pair from some guy who was trying to get rid of a pair of them as fast as he possibly could, so my Dad got 2 kayaks, a lifejacket and a pair of paddles for £40. Should be interesting? Woo, got to go today. WAs good fun, although my paddle had a bit missing from the left (port? ) end. Was good fun though My kayak was a slalom kayak, so it seemed like a bit of a handful at first, but I sorta got used to it and it was cool afterwards

David
Im after one to do some white water, like grade 3 rivers and things. not too sure what the technical name would be. Im assuming there playboats?
Lee Cable
I am quite into kayaking. If you were looking at a play boat, then you could consider a liquid logic pocket rocket. I think there around 600 new. really short though and flicky.
