Wet Or Dry

After the extremely hot weather we have had recently, if i ride in the wet stops me from getting too warm.

I find riding in the wet pretty fun because it adds another dimension to just getting up or down obstacles. Like the things you find easy in the dry usually become harder and more technical.

Although the only down side has to be confidence in the back brake, mine is usually good in most conditions, but it does put a bit of doubt in your mind. And also after you have been thoroughly soaked and stop riding its not the best feeling, standing around in wet clothing.

But overall i have got to admit i quite like it, before if it started raining i would of stayed inside, but now if i see it raining it puts a smile on my face. Quite bizarre really as i used to hate england for the rainy weather, although i suppose my opinion will chance when it's winter (N) .

dry all the way !!! (Y)

when your trying a 7 foot gap in the wet and your zoo pads are wet on your ceramic ( sorry for the spelling) rim and it slips straight out and u land on your spine you soon realise that its not the best thing to be doing in the wet.

i like riding after it has rained because i find obstacles are slightly harder but as long as my rims and pads are dry i do not mind i want to keep trials riding i do not really want to brake my back

:D :D

Hello,

I much prefer the dry weather but do like it after a heavy downpour the night before to make the place nice and cool for when we ride, also i have plazmatic crm pads and they don't work good at all in wet weather.

and if your using tar its best to keep well away from wet weather as rain and tar doesn't mix... tar becomes like oil and very slippery then making your brake extremely bad!

dry weather (Y)

Dont run zoo pads and a smooth rim then.

the problem is zoo pads in the dry on a ceramic rim are the dogs knackers the thing i usually do is to not use my bike whilst its raining very simple and very cheap (N)

and i'm not going to grind because i do not need to. My brake doesn't slip at all

try zoo pads you wont go back but only in the dry (Y)

wet weather is good to ride natty in because when it comes riding dry stuff you have loads of confidence,so street in the dry is a laugh and you can really push things

craig

ps....i ride locally which is on rocks which are covered by high tide so when i do ride them theyre pretty soggy so i vote for natty in the wet,lol

Before reading this I had no idea that anybody would prefer riding in the wet to dry! It just seems really dangerous to me, tyres and brakes will both have much less grip than in the dry however good they are. I can't deny it's often a bit hot for riding on a sunny day, hence evening rides...

Been there done that, got the the picture, its a no no, plazmatic crms on a grind is the brake you want.

Well dry is the best to ride in!

I have found riding in the wet is hard and can be very sketchy to ride in the wet, I find your brakes slip lots, your feet slip off your pedals and your tyres slip. I do ride in the rain if I really feel like riding but it is scary because I don't trust my brakes or bike. But on the other hand riding in the wet can help you with your riding skills because you may find riding in the wet is very hard so when you come to ride the stuff in the dry it will seem easy.

I like riding in the dry much better because it has it's advantages, the obstacles are not wet there for your wheels will grip better on them, your rims are not wet so your breaks will not slip, you trust your bike more and you can go much much bigger well i'm not saying you can't go big in the wet just it would be incredible stupid. Also I just feel better riding in the dry I find it more fun. And I think the majority of us prefer the dry to!

Like i said i do like riding in wet weather in many ways, but you have to tame your riding down and look and observe things more before you ride them to avoid any big bails, due to the slippery surfaces.

But to me that is what trials is all about, testing you skill in most conditions, to see what you can and can't achieve, in order to become a better rider.

Ye i suppose it might be better riding in the dry for big gaps and drops, but sometimes you will need to try different things, like more technical sections or tricks in wet weather to learn how to adapt your riding to different enviroments.

Well thats the way i see it anyway.

I do like the wet conditions, it challenges your riding skills.

You have to be accurate, consistant and have some very good trust in your brakes and your ability to get your wheels where you want them to go.

I think it really helps my riding in the wet. Stuff you find easy to do is now harder. There is a slight element of danger now!

My brakes don't fail anymore. Grind your rims and use Koxx Bloxx blue or brown. awesome stopping power in all weather types.

Let a little air out of your tyres for added grip and away you go.

Yes it is great in the hot, dry conditions but you'll be crap when it comes to rain. how you gonna push yourself if you never get adventurous.

Ye that is exactly how i see it. If you never ride in the wet you are missing out on a valuable skill.

To me it is what trials is all about, testing you own skill for a variety of tasks in most conditions on a bike. It is like motorbike trials which is pretty much all weather sport, ye it might not be very appealing when things are wet and slippy or a bit muddy, but it is a very useful skill to learn.

I used to use zoo pads but did find in the wet they were pretty poor and slipped a lot in wet weather, so i brought some koxx browns which work well in the wet with a slight grind.

i think it all depends what surface you are riding on, if it is a surface that gets awfully slipperly i tend to not ride. But some times surfaces that are slightly slippery and it gives you an unsafe feel i like those as it gives you a kind of adreline rush.

Do you have to try doing the same big moves when its wet? why not try doing smaller more techinical move, like try riding wet pallets, and "weird" angles in the wet... and try not to slip out.. if you slip out, try again... intill you succeed, thats the best way to get good at riding any weather, because when its comes to dry weather, you can wax it off easily....
