Guest
I have a onza t-vee, i got it not long ago and it is the perfect bike for me the only problem is that it's really slow. It's not that i'm to lazy to push the pedals round fast enough, i am pushing hard down and the pedals are going round and round but i'm not going very fast. I don't want to buy new parts but i will take it in to consideration, but all i want to know for now is: Are all trials bikes so slow or am i just the unlucky one? Jez
Mods do not go fast. Simple as I'm afraid.Stocks can be made to go fastER by messing with your gearing. The only thing one can do to a mod is perhaps buy some shorter cranks. Fishy
I think I'm right in thinking the T-vee is 22:18? My mate had one, went 22:16. Made it much better. As I'm pretty sure even though 22:18 on stock is nice, on a mod it is a bit spinny. If that makes sense.Best bet dude it to buy a set of cranks with a front freewheel, so you can experiment with a hard gear ratio with the back cogs. 18:12 I think a lot of people use. Luke Rainbird
Yeah, a bog standard kind of mod gearing (from what I've made out) is about 1.5 (teeth on chainring divided by rear) eg 18:12 would be about right as 18/12 = 1.5Stock is usually around the 1.22ish mark, with 22:18 being a very common ratio. So look for something around 1.5, and then see if you still want to change anything after running that for a little while. From there it will just be a case of changing the rear cog by a tooth or two to get what you're looking for
Smoâ„¢
Trials gearing is high acceleration, low top speed. Fact.

Not gonna do much, as it's still the same gear ratio?Higher pressures may help though...Double check your cones aren't too tight too. It might eek out another gnat's nipple of speed, you never know.Either way, speed and mods don't mix.

poopipe
get into the tuck position put more air in your tyres - you'll be able to roll a little way between cranks at least. the bike will never, ever go fast though
