PaRtZ
EDIT: Maybe this means Deng will sort his shit out with the "mod" cassette hubs then, if he's relying on his stock bikes running them now?Maybe, but maybe also he'll leave them so they keep breaking and we have to buy new ones every 6 months So am I right in thinking, in 2007 (when the frames come out) We'll have:Normal mod bikes (zona zip)Normal stock bikes (bt raven)24" bikes (onza zoot)Mod-stock bikes (2007 adamant)Are we going to have stock mod bikes too? Mark W
We already have a mini-stock, the now "old" CLS Pythons. 1065 wheelbase, 375mm says - pretty much a stock? You could actually use a Python as a stock frame if you wanted, anyway, if you ran a mod hub in your back wheel and did what Wally did to his so he could run a disc
Mark W
If they're Profile hubs but with GOOD bearings, and without you having to pay Profile Tax, I don't get why it shouldn't work out OK...
AdamR28
If they're Profile hubs but with GOOD bearingsExactly that - Japanese bearings throughout (compared with Japanese main bearings and Chinese driver bearings on the Profile hubs).Adam
Mr_Pitbull
as so many people dislike ZOO! now i very much doubt most of the people complaining would have bought the Pitbull anyways. Focussing on the Python! its far more unique than you think in contrast to the 06/05. The chainstays are alot shorter and the length been taken off the chainstays has been added to the top/downtube part of the frame. This means the bikes alot more flickable. And with so many people complaining about the python having such long chainstays theres not much you can complain about now:P. That Grid down to the magura mounts is acting as a booster. Possibly the stiffest booster ever placed on a frame, its design is based on the booster on the Adamant so its purpose and relevence is not only on looks but function also. Mr_Pitbull
controversial mr biffo? you able to jusify that?lol the booster on the Adamant is a machine! reason it is so good it because of the bulkiness of it etc . ZOO!'s Booster is alot similar. I could be wrong though, the booster on my Ti is amazing and its tiny. But Craig really wanted a good back brake so he specificly Asked for a booster similar to Adamants. Hobnobs
So, its now even longer. Good luck with being able to ride that properly. Most of the goodness of the python was the long stays.
Mark W
I dunno, I f**king hated the length of the stays on the Python. The Zip always felt like it rode nicer just 'cos of the shorter stays, so with the shorter stays on the Python it should finally ride nicely too. They just always felt sorta dead and lifeless to me 'cos you could never just arse around on them 'cos they were so barge-like. Hopefully that's sorta now... CBProductions
I might just have me a Czar in that case. Any word on the geometry?Isn't that mod very like the Toxsin one? I'd imagine it's probobly a good bit longer than the toxsin perhaps. In what sense? I would say its not at all like it except the cnc bit by the chainstay. Walleee
When I said 'very like' I ment 'aesthetically similar', mainly due to the headtube/downtube/toptube intersection.
Dan6061
Deng sounds like a man with a plan. And i think he's right. I'm thinking this too.At first I thought it was a bad idea. Which it still is, in a way.Yes this will mean having to buy Deng's hubs, then try to sell old hubs, then re-build wheels. But then there is the whole 'weight saving' idea about it.No more mech's, no mech' hangers to break, snail cams/bmx tensioners can be used. This seems a good idea to me, yet it's still a bad idea. I dunno...
Joe_Elding
Doesnt that mean that the 6 gear rule for comps will pretty much HAVE to be dropped? thats the only downside I can see with 116mm spacing
Janson
Horisontal dropouts still work on 135 mm frames. Also, I'm pretty sure a King Classic in standard specifications is lighter than a Deng hub, and most likely stronger too.. And I'd easily sacrifice 100 grams for parts I know work, and to know that if I fold a wheel, I can borrow a wheel from a friend or another bike, to keep me going for the day, or whatever. It's idiotic. Chris
Doesnt that mean that the 6 gear rule for comps will pretty much HAVE to be dropped? thats the only downside I can see with 116mm spacing As for UCI, the 6 speed rule has already been dropped. Will be official 2007. For now, it's unofficial/tolerated. Most of the UCI riders already have ss setups...
Walleee
People just don't like change. In two years time it's won't even be thought of....

Janson
It won't be thought of because nobody will change to 116. Vive la resistance, or whatever.

Burton
Sabotage on the Python!Should have kept the original frame design though, and tweeked it with the booster idea.Don't like the sounds of its geo either.Stock frames are looking spot on though, with the reeet geo to match
CBProductions
When I said 'very like' I ment 'aesthetically similar', mainly due to the headtube/downtube/toptube intersection. ahh ok I see your point slightly there. sorry was just trying to see where you were coming from
mat hudson
but you wont be able to ride comps on that i guess, not a stock mtb and all. what a twat.
Mark W
Well you will, 'cos it's still got 26" wheels? The name of it doesn't really mean shit, 'cos it still fits in with UCI rules at present.Janson - why not take your CK Classic hub body and put the BMX driver on there? It's the same shell, so you'd just need to change the axle and the driver, then you'd be good to go?
PaRtZ
Now im really confusedAre these all stock frames with horizontal dropouts and bmx hub spacing?
