Dan6061
Ok, while I was in Wales, my Magura was playing up.I set it up, so the pads were the same width apart from the rim, with the TPA all the way out.As I wound it in, the pads would go in together, then when I pull the brake, one would come out quite far, and the other about 1-2mm?I've just taken it off, cleaned up the pistons with WD40, re-bled it several times, and as I pull the lever, one will come out before the other. like 3-4mm...I've also held opne piston in, as I pumped the lever, and the other piston does go all the way, then I do it to the other.Should I take the lever off and oil that piston up aswell as the slave cylinders? The lever and Cylinders are only a few months old, so I wouldn't have thought it'd be those causing the problem...EDIT: I thought it was sorted. I cleaned it all up with WD40, and rebled it until it was perfect. Yet the pads still don't move together? With the TPA wound up to how I like it, one pad will be 1mm off the rim, the other 3-4mm. Help. Edited August 1, 2006 by Dan6061

bhups
Sounds like the TAP is to far in try doing this.Undo the TAP all the way so that the pads are all the way back then set the brake up again so that the pads are about 2m away from the rim each side, use like a 2p coin to make it easier then use the TPA slightly until it is how you want it. Janson
my magura does it. some maggies do, some don't. put the slower one on the non drive side, that way you can have that pad closer to the rim, and the drive side one further away, meaning you can pedal harder withouut the wheel flexing over and rubbing on the brake. trials_pimp
This is because one of the seals in the Slave cylinders has swolen. This will cause greater resistance to movement to that side, and will give the effects you have.I dont think they do a service kit of the Slaves, so you may need to put on a new one.Easy to get hold of though. Dan6061
Ahh right, cheers guys. The only problem is, with the TPA all the way out, and the pads as close as possible, there's quite a gap. more than 2mm...I'll play about with it later though. Mooore!
i had that with mine. no matter which way round i had the slave cylinders. I solved it with one of them triangle shaped hose splitters so that i the oil pressure could build up in both cylinders rather than building up in the on at the end of the system before the one in the middle of the system. Not sure if they still make them splitters but if they do, it might be worth a try. Christophe'
its caused by the retract springs in the slaves not having matched springyness.
