Big_oll
When putting a fixed cog onto my tensiles do i need to use a lock ring?
TheMunn
No, the sprockets and freewheels are self tightening, so once you've ridden it around it will be nice and tight. But this makes them a royal pain to get off.

Walleee
Lies. Aire Valley took mine off we a chain whip. (screw on cog that is)Generally though, i'd back JT on this one.Chain Whips are not designed for removing fixed cog's or freewheels, of course, anything's possible, but generally, I wouldn't even entertain the idea. Mark W
You really, really don't need to use one The only time you ever need a lockring with a fixed sprocket is if it's a DX-style sprocket on a rear freehub or fixed hub body.

Big_oll
Nice,i know you don't need to use one but I'm in the second year of my apprenticeship doing engineering and all the guy's at work see it as bad practice by not using a lockring!
