planet-x-boy
Hello lads. i was just wondering if you could give me some tips on hooking. I used to run 18:14 gear ratio and i could hook up to about 61" on a vertical wall but i have recently changed to 18:15 and i have found that i cant get the speed to do them that high anymore. If i go fast i cant pull the front end up high enough but if i go to slow i cant get the hook. I know there is people who run 18:16 , 18:17 who have no problems so do you think it will just be getting used to it? I have had the new gearing for about a month now.So does anyone have any suggestions or is it just a case of getting used to it?Thanks Brett..... Lee Cable
Howdy brett, Get anything last night? Back on topic. Have you tried changing back? Try that?

I dont want to change back because it is 10 times better for sidehops, gaps to front and back etc. The only thing that i am having trouble on is hooks and taps.Maybe the only one reply suggests that it will just take time to get used to?Brett..... MikeCottTrials
i cant speak about hooks but im running 18:16 and finding it very difficult to tap, i am used to the gear but i cant get enough power to get the front up at any speed so im going to change to 18:15 and see if that helps. im sure you wont need any heavier than 18:15 but might have to change ur style so u dont rely so much on the speed you come into it at
Mark W
To quote the song: "He's right you know, goddamit he's right" or whatever it is.Just try going at it a little slower, and be a bit more explosive with the power? If it's slightly spinnier you should be able to get the hammer down a little harder and faster, so just make the most of that.
