The enchanted broomstick
Hi to all, im having some problems lately regarding MP3 players and my computer and im starting to think it cant just be the MP3 players. Firstly a Philips PSS110 would not connect to my computer, after taking it back i ended up with a Zen Nano Plus, which yet again would not be at all recognised by my computer. Naturally i dont want a product i cannot use so i took this back and now have the Sony NW E300 and once more i have the same problem, coincidence ?The sony has given me the most signs of life regarding connection. I have installed all the software that came with the MP3 player from the original disc. Yet when i plug it in i get the new hardware wizard popup (windows xp) i let it search for the drivers to automatically install and it does. Then it gives me an error saying that "A service installation secition in this INF is invalid" - This to me says that some data may be missing from the disc. So i have downloaded all the software again from the sony website and i still have the same problem. If somebody could please shed some light on this i would greatly appreciate it.Stu. ManxTrialSpaz
Is your #USB port fast enough? I.e. USB 2.0 etc
The enchanted broomstick
yeah im running it through the USB 2.0 port, either way it doesnt really matter because if it was only a 1.1 port then the player would drop to a 1.1 speed (same in all cases), cheers though. Tomm
Might be worth reinstalling your motherboard's USB drivers, see if that helps. Uninstall everything first and install the USB drivers again, then the player's drivers again.

The enchanted broomstick
see i thought exactly that same thing, naturally you would believe it to make things easier. BUT no, the Zen Nano Plus is meant to install as a removable storage device without any drivers on XP but as you may well be able to guess, it didnt
