jacks
its rather easy if you have some toolsat first take it to pieces then settle it and untwist with very long pipe))
xris_x
i wouldn't ever recommend hammering it off, get yourself the proper tool there no more than a £5, if you have a vice it makes life a hell of a lot easier as you just put the tool in the vice and turn the wheel as if it where a car steering wheel...nice and easy
lee220
Or you can put a thin bit of metal in a vice and twist the wheel when the metals in between the two stickey out bits on the freewheel put a bit of wd-40 around it to.
matt rushton
Buy a tool and once you have the tool in place put then bolts back on the axle so the free wheel tool does not come off.hope this helps you Matt Rushton.

will17will17
if you have just got a new front freewheel then don't u need a solid cog back wheel unless your planning on running 2 freewheels? i'm not being cockly i'm asking because i am not totally sure....? but my point is if u have a front freewheel now , then why are you taking your rear one off? Will Edited July 27, 2006 by will17will17

poopipe
well the rear freewheel screws on the hub so im gettin a screw on sprocket for the rear So my freind liam told me he better be right!!he's right - you put a fixed sprocket on the freewheel threads, the freewheel on the cranks and you're good to go.anyway, freewheel removalif you're not bothered about keeping the rear freewheel for later you just take the driver shell off, clamp the main body into a vice and turn the wheel - same process mentioned above only you don't need the tool. the problem with doing this it like that is that you stand a fairly good chance of cacking the freewheel - if you're not bothered about keeping it then you're fine.
