Mark W
You'll almost certainly need the tool. Without it, it's mad hard trying to get freewheels off. Ask around and see if anyone has one, if you don't. Either way, just try and use a long bolt to bolt the tool to the hub, then either mount the tool in a vice using the spanner flats on it or try and use a spanner on it, but either way - give it some beans.Main tip would be to get the tool ASAP and try and use that. mat hudson
freewheel remover bolted to the hub. works like a charm. alternative meathod (i did this after delacing my wheel (non drive side) and forgetting about the driveside) remove lockring (smash with hammer and punch ) take everything off the freewheel. now you can lace your wheel up. whenm its done, clamp it in the vice, turn wheel. Monkey
if he can do that, he just needs to put his freewheel back together afterwards...so, in addition, don't throw the parts away and prepare for some really fiddly work with pawls and bearings. Mark W
You've got to be careful where you clamp it if you want to use it again; the vice tends to rape the freewheel body unless you make sure you clamp it on a strong bit.

downhill_rob2@hotmail.com
uprade to a tensile at the same time Werd.Just take everything off the freewheel, so its just the freewheel body, then get some stilsons on the flat edges, with an extension bar on the end, then turn the freewheel off You will be supprised

ogre
There an absolute b*****d to get off with a tool, keep your tyre on (put it back on if you ook it off) pump it up to make the wheel bigger (mover leverage) and litterally bear hug the wheel and gurn better than TRA (grunting helps too), but you might need someone else to help you.
