first of totally forget about sony, they gash. not sure on the jvc unit itll be better than your factory fitted one, maybe have a look at alpine and pioneer as they should give you better sounding headunit.

whats the budget on speakers?

components generally consist of two seperate driver units - mid and tweeter, and a crossover which controls the frequencies that reach each of them ie. the lower frequencies to the mids and higher to the tweeters. components would be more difficult to install but you would gain a greater control over soundstaging etc.

coaxials are basically a single driver unit covering all the frequencies, as your going to be mounting them in the parcel shelf id suggest these, as there location behind you pretty much negates any of the benfits of components. its nice to see you found caraudiodirect, its well worth looking for speakers on there too.

Splx are one of the more "budget" brands lets say, frequently found in motorworld and ebay (not even halfords stock them!).

I persoanlly find them to be up to par with standard factory fit speakers, maybe slightly better. spend a little extra and something slightly better made.

The new sony HUs and Speakers are actually very good, still dont like there subs though.

The sony cdx-gt300 is a smart unit, understated looks, good sound, reliable - and I pod compatable too, as well as front aux in- very usful feature.

at halfords kenwood and JVC are the most returned units for repair.

maybe you could stop taking the piss out of anyone who say about 6*9's and go play with you hair dressing car

B)

Lolz0rz.

Let me guess, you have 6x9's? :-

Oh, and anything Blaupunkt is pretty damn good. Got a headunit in my car, 70 quid off eBay, 180 new in shops, was un-opened, in sealed box, and it works a god damn treat. Sound is excellent, and its even got some "bass gain" feature, which actually blew up one of my speakers. :(

I have a good knowledge yes, and this is because ive educated myself as I dont like spending my hard earned cash on inferior products. If you looked at a decent car audio website you would too soon learn the drawbacks of 6x9s, christ you only have to look at one or two topics on here to discover that!
