Mark W
Drilling out your face-plate might be a bit dodgy too, depending on how the Viz ones are done? Either way, why not just helicoil that minx? Good enough for 4-bolt mounts: Good enough for stems.
T-BAD
don't know any were around here that i can get it helicoiled.

Mark W
Gap in the middle of where? BMX stems are starting to get helicoiled as standard now, which is a step in the right direction...
Big_oll
Go for it, if you can't helicoil it just tap it to M6. If it doesn't last just buy a new stem!
ben_travis
Sorry for being stupid, but will someone explain how to helicoil as ive stripped one of my mounts.someone to help?
Heatsink
Some info on how to do it found on google:http://www.toolsnextday.ltd.uk/Helicoil_Ki...icoil_usage.htmThe same place charges £25 for a kit (Part No. 35050, M5 x 0.8 Pitch). Worth shopping around!http://www.toolsnextday.ltd.uk/Helicoil_Ki...licoil_kits.htmLoads of places you can buy the kits from in the UK, just have a look on google. There are lots of these kits on Ebay I notice. Potential to save a bit of money there Check that the outer diameter that the holes will be drilled/tapped out to is not going to leave an unreasonably thin outer wall.Helicoils are stronger than the original holes tapped into the Alu. From stripped thread to better than it was originally - Result!Steve
