Brian Bleech
I have some Koxx Browns on the way and I am going to be running in heatsink vee backings. So how do I go about getting the pads out of the backings? I am sure I have read something about boiling them, but had no luck on the search! Technical Tom
Put them in the oven for about 5-7mins at 150 degrees and then they should pull out really easily but be careful they will be very hot!, i have done this many a time so it does definitely work. Janson
Tom is correct. Put them in the oven when it's off, let them heat up with the oven, and when it reaches 150-170, they're done! And yes, be careful, they're fairly warm!

And would it affect the compound, say if it was Coust material?
Will Arnold
Would this distort the pads? And would it affect the compound, say if it was Coust material?thats what i was gunna say, dragging a brake pad down a hill is enough to feck up the properties
Technical Tom
It doesn't affect the pad material, it just kills the glue so the pads just slid out. I have done this to about 5 different pairs of pads all different material ones and i have never noticed the material to go 'off'Tom. toxicturky
lol, but this technique stinks like a f**ker ha, all depends if you want to keep the pads/ backings like, hey if this works then who am i to argue
joe b
The oven method has always worked for me. About 170 degree's (conventional oven), and 150 degree's (fan assisted oven)! This works because the glue f**ks up at much lower temperatures than the pad material and the pad backing material, so they just part. But, like Janson said, careful when your getting them out. Or there'll be a few expletives shooting out of your mouth. Hehe...Cheers,Joe.
Ben Geary
Don't over heat them to much becuase then the material starts to come of in little chunks when tugging them out with pliars.
Brian Bleech
Cool! I will do this tonight and will use oven gloves I don't care about the maggie backings as they are going into heatsink vees
