ok, now my internet is working, I am going to do my virsion of events.....

set off a week before the comp in spain, it was bloody hot here actually, 32 degrees our car said!

The ferry across to spain was pleasent, saw some tuna in a feeding frenzy which was nice.

Got to spain and started the long drive to the venue, took two days.

The town we were in was the 2nd oldest in spain, it was really medevil looking and made a nice change to all the modern cities we have over here.

We had 4 or 5 days before the comp, things got pretty boring, but fortunatley Jack Meak, Sam Wheeler, Nick Goddard, Tom and co were all there to keep me sane.

The sections were really close to the town, really big round rocks but unfortunatley no shade! it was on average around 38 degrees I recken.

The sections were all doable, apart from one (expert was bad enough, but there is no master rider on this planet who can get up an 8ft rock with no ramp!)

Oddly, the young 20" riders rode the same areas as the 26" sections but with different gates, I would have expected them to be taken out, but to my amazment they were left in! making some sections very confusing.....on the river section I missed a gate because of them and got a 5 :( I would have come 2nd if I had cleaned it like I did on the 2nd lap.

I ended up on 37 dabs, same as mr butler, wayne was 1 dab better and was good enough to get 3rd (well done Wayne!!) and gave was 3 dabs away and grabbed 2nd (bloody well done geez!) Vittorio had a good ride and finnished on 24, pretty clear of the pack.

I left early the next morning for the looooooong drive to france, it took 4 days (lots of sleeping and sheer bordem took place)

Got to france pretty early and pitched my tent. the event was held at a farm owned by a rider (Iforget his name), he has converted some woodland into a trials heaven (think hook woods) with rocks, tyres, logs, fountains ect, very nice!

The sections were on both the man made area and the natural limestone rocks a bit up a track, they were more techincal than the lower sections, pretty slippery and very hoppy, I was very worried about them as they looked tricky to me.

back at the camp site jack and the roadtrippers finally turned up, to satisfy some bordem, we entertained ourselves with bottle rockets, both water and fire powered (hours of fun).

The comp finally came, we started with the technical rock sections that I was worried about. I needn't have been so worried, there were 6 sections up there, I dropped one dab :) I then dropped 2 dabs on a section in the main area for a first lap score of 3.

The 2nd lap went pretty much the same, apart from I dropped 3 on the same section I got the dab on before (silly mistakes) but I only dropped one more for a 2nd lap score of 4 (7 dabs overall if your crap at maths, my best result ever!!)

Danny was close behind on 15 and with an injured thumb! Vitorrio had a bad first lap, but an ace 2nd to get 3rd. I also have to say bloody well done to nick goddard for 4th place and ben savage for winning masters!! Lois morgan is also doing well with 2 3rds!)

There was some good entertainment that night with a live band and fireworks, but I was nackered so went to bed early.....set off early the next morning to get the ferry and I am home now.

got a couple of weeks training to do now then its off to singapore and japan! wish us luck guys!

Ali C, I have to say I thought your ride on Sunday was amazing, really well done. The natural sections were very slippery indeed; marks could be lost any where.

This years World champs has produced many fine results;

Lois Morgan as established her self as a podium regular on the international scene with two fine 3rd places, and I am sure, better things to come.

Gavin Bedford and Waynio opened a few eyes with their results in the first found, two Brits on the podium! The Expert class is hotly contested this year, I think cool heads will rule in the end as I don’t this a class has ever been so open. The results are full or familiar names, they look like they are from a British round.

The Senior and Cadet class’ are swamped with talent, with familiar faces from around the World filling the entry. Brits in those two categories have done well to achieve their results so far, especially Chris Boyes, 4th in Spain but out of the French round with a cut foot.

The two Elite riders are having a tough time at the top. Its early days for them, they are among the youngest in their class.

The Master category is crammed full of experience, Ben has had a tough time dealing with strategies that lead to a winning score. At the first round Xavi managed to complete the course and win without dropping a 5 or cleaning a section, going for a clean proved to be an expensive mistake as the major obstacles proved to be “uncleanable”. Fortunately in France there were more things to have a go at, giving Ben a slight advantage.

Saturday’s riders have also done very, with Sam Oliver just missing the podium in Spain and Tom Hyland suffering the same fate in France. Sam’s little brother Tom put in determined efforts at both rounds, showing great potential.

Keep up the good work!

Fred.

Tha pretty much sums it all up.

plenty of inspiration and alot of commitment from alot of riders. riding under no pressure is better than riding under all pressure. that maybe why i did so well, no point thinking about marks, think about whats next and enjoy yourself.

Spoke to Ali C at the shop yesterday when he called over and im sure he will agree i think with alot of + ness and confidence it makes riding a trial easier, dont think or put yourself under pressure, its easier to relax and enjoy the competition.

Waynio.............................

Cant wait for Japan/Singapore its more the experience of the lifestyle that will be good for me. riding at the 2 venues is a bonus.

Cheers Fred for taking me and accomodating me in the van on the way down it was very much appreciated. (Y):) had a great time and some memories to remember forever!!!! the first night after a few beers a quick dip in the "Trough" was good enough for a bath (H) then on the saturday me and john shrewsbury bathed together in the trough which included some Olympic diving............. altho rumours went around that the water was not deep enough at only 3ft!!!!
