Gavyn.
what frame was it, even if you had just done that i don't beleive you that you are smooth enough for evn one hole to be drilled in your frame Edited July 22, 2006 by Gavyn L
lardo_69
i actully cant belive what i am reading. Holes in your frame. the only place i would consider putting holes is in the head tubemaking the vent holes bigger but this can only be done before weldingdrilling gussets cutting down the drop outs (not drilling but same thing)Cracks start due to tiny micro scopic holes that get bigger...then stap. And you are attacking it with a drill. yeah some pictures would be nice. and you doing the 10ft drops to. another downer is that you cant sell the frame after. dave85
Cracks start due to tiny micro scopic holes that get bigger...then stap. And you are attacking it with a drill.Cracks start with small holes, big holes are good.Bit difficult to tell without looking at a pic, but remember lots of stressed tubes in aircraft are slotted and drilled like that. Besides, the T-rex is plenty strong enough and could do with losing some weight.

The Eastern Grim Reaper BMX frame has 2 or 3 long vertical slots (rounded ends so no stress risers) machined into the headtube, and two similar slots cut vertically through the seat-tube, big cut-outs in the drop-outs and so on, and very few of them have broken anywhere near the holes. They got a pro NASCAR race car designer to do a load of frame designs and do shitload of top-spec FEA tests and shit like that on them, and they basically just removed everything they didn't need. It's only really one step on from butting tubing, and a lot of trials frames do that already. The seat-tubes are so short you could probably get away with it, and the same goes for the headtube.Either way, the way that this guy shares an IP address with another user on here suggests that this is probably just a big wind-up... matt!
this may cause your frame to get lighter but also it will be weaker and may snap.............. matt
Wright Pads
Yeah drilling holes or slots or what ever will affect how ridged and stiff the frame is. Possibly allowing too much flex in which will make it snap.Don;t matter how good you are you will snap itIe: Onza Limey, comp frame only but danny has snaped his and look at him. yoyoyo
They got a pro NASCAR race car designer to do a load of frame designs and do shitload of top-spec FEA tests and shit like that on them, Hmmm, professional designers and teenagers messing around, only a slight difference. Either way, the way that this guy shares an IP address with another user on here suggests that this is probably just a big wind-up...Seems more likely. The day someone on here can afford 600 pounds to buy a new frame, without it even slightly damaging their accounts, then i will believe this guy. Also why do you need a bike that is so light you need to drill holes, if you can afford an xtp then you could buy lighter components. bob87
If he doesn't show pictures then I hear Sounds good to me. He's come on here blagging about how he drilled holes in his frame and doesn't show pictures. This makes no sense, if i drilled holes in my frame the first thing i would do is show pictures of it.Then i'd show some of it snapped in 400 places 2 seconds after i started riding it.
