Bit Of Help With A Possible Ebay Problem...

'lo,

I got a message a few days ago that went straight into my junk mail folder that was from message@ebay.com. This is the score:

IPB Image

TF's gonna ream that image size so you'll have to click on it to open it, but basically, some guy called "Pellet8" is saying:

Why did you contact the biders of my listing and told them that you are the real seIIer?

I will report you to ebay.

For a start, I have no idea what the f**k he's talking about, and I haven't looked at any of the random graphics card pieces of shit he's selling on eBay, let alone tried telling anyone about them. I hovered my mouse over the "Respond Now" bit, and it's linked to http://www.drcamposcosta.pt/cgi_bin/ws/ISA...dex.html',1

which to me, sounds a little sketchy. If it was an eBay thing I'd have thought it would've linked me to my e-mail inbox. I've got no intention of doing anything about this, but I just wanted to check this was actually a scam sorta/random dude trying to f**k with OBM thing. Stuff like the typos in it, saying "Wetern Union" instead of "Western Union" and so on just looked well sketchy...

Thanks for any help...

Yeah, I get these quite regularly, they're always different, saying things like "Hi, are you still selling this item" etc etc. Best bet is to not click any of the links, and simply forward it to spoof@ebay.com then delete it. :)

I got an email saying that someone had hacked my account or something and I needed to choose a new password/secret question. It seemed fairly legit though - It came from ebay.com and it didn't ask you to click on any links or anything obvious like that.

I just ignored it, but does anyone know if it's a known spoof?

I clicked on that link and entered

Username: Bumfights

Password: Nipplebumfun

And i let me on.

Now what are the chances of me guessing a username and password. :ermm:

Ha, i pity the fool that messes with the OBM thing. (had to be done :- )

I think if they are legit they have something like www.signin.ebay.com in the address bar, obviously not that but something along those lines. Because i think i remeber seeing something about how they can set up stuff with just the site address.

Might have dreamed it up though.

If they're legit they wont send you a link to click on - you'd go to the ebay site yourself and see anything relevant in your account details page.

and...

If your account had been compromised (I won't say hacked) they A: probably wouldn't know about it and B: wouldn't give the slightest toss. In either event you wouldn't get an email.

If in the unlikely event ebay did decide to do something about it they'd reset your password and send the new one to your registered email address, there'd be no point in telling you to log in using a compromised password because the person who logged in could easily be the bugger that stole it in the first place.

it's always a scam. always
