MikeCottTrials
the time has come for me to buy a new tyre and word is maxxis is rubber of choice. but i havent heard much about the hansventure so hit me with what you know and whats all this mustard about 40a/42a and 42a/50a i know its the different compounds but im not sure which one i should be getting
mat hudson
its a good grippy tread pattern, but the compound on the 50a veersion is a bit too hard really, go for the softer version and it'll be a good tyre.

So the bit in the middle is harder than the side bits. So the theory is that it's got grip where it needs it but won't wear out so fast. Sorry if you already knew this. The 40a/42a has 40a on the sides and 42a on the middle bit. I would imagine that for street or if you want a tyre that will last a decent amount of time, the 42a/50a would be a good choice
toxicturky
my mate had a pair on his bike they feel really weird when you pivot on the tyres cos one bit kinda stays still whilst the other moves about, very good grip he said, didn't use tham for trials myself thoughMark. Ash-Kennard
mine is wanky, i got the 40, 42 one.when riding on rocks it is great, and its ok for street, but muddy natural and logs it is crap. i had to let loads of pressure out just to grip. im on like 12-13 psi atm. also, the sidewalls are mega thin, ive had like 4 pinch puncture in the last 2 months. where as on my minion and high roller i didnt have any, and they gripped.although the hansventure has not worn at all moral of the story, get a minion. AdamR28
Seems strange that there are mixed reports...I have found that, especially in that horrible sticky mud, the tread doesn't clear amazing well on mine, but that said, its no worse than a Minion. The sidewalls are exactly the same as the other Dual Ply Maxxis tyres, and I've not had a single puncture yet.The wear rate is something I've been really impressed with on mine - its about 6 months old now and has only half gone!Personally, I think they're definitely worth a try if you're looking to get a new tyre any time soon. As for compound: if you ride mainly street go for the 42/50, and mainly natural 40/42.CheersAdam

Ash-Kennard
dude, how come the sidewalls on mine are so thin? i campared them to my old knackered high roller and minion sidewalls a minute ago and i can feel they are thicker than single ply but nowhere near the width of the dual ply. its just wierd
