Dan6061
Ok, I've had these Plaz pads for over a year now I think, and they've barely worn. They've been on several grinds, some of which have been quite harsh. And 3 rims. They just don't lock.I've got some Zoo pads at the moment, and they're wearing fast on my worn out grind, and at a funny angle. So I wanna use these Plaz again.I've tried de-greasing them before, and filing them down a bit to get dirt off, but still no luck?Is there anything else I can try to get them back to locking like they used to?I don't really want to have to use tar all the time, or keep grinding my rim. They used to work super good, even on a worn grind! An_toin3
Weird, I had 2 sets of plaz and both of them were very good ! on a grind of course, even when the grind was dead they were still offering a great performance !You could try to put a fresh grind, put your pads on, and go down a hill holiding the brake a little bit, they will do a lot of noise, but I did that with mine and after that they were working very well ! make sure you don't hold your brake too long because the pads will surely worn out fater than usual
Dan6061
Already tried that, had a harsh grind, and the grind wore out faster then the pads!Couldn't even see brake dust!
Ali C
what are you de-greasing them with? if its a car product then it could contain oil (to stop bits rusting)give them a wash in soapy water, then normal water and let them dry out and try them, maybe file, grind off the top layer to get to new material. mods
i don't know but maybe if the pads have been to hot and too cold lots of times it effects the pad material, i expect they have just got old and gone very hard all the way through, because of gettin to hot and cold. No doubt u need to chuck em away unfortunately. Edited July 15, 2006 by mods

joe b
Wash them in soapy water, to get all the de-greaser off. Then, once they are dry, take a file/piece of sandpaper and take 1mm or so away from the top. You need to this as when the pads are made they are finished off with a layer of thicker, more dense, material which is not very good... Hope this helps!Cheers,Joe. sammerz
I rubbed my Plaz pads down on some rough sand paper first, then put them onto a medium ground rim and they work amazingly. >>Sam<<
