Fvil
hey everyi was just wondering what you riders think about when it comes to upgradeing new parts for your bikesin my opinion the parts that are important is the:freewheelandhandle bar (long= better to handle)andISIS BB(which will need the cranks too) i did think about hubs but i was told that they dont do muchand they just should be sealed bearing type!?!?!?!? so what do you all think??thankyou
thaoriginalgangsta
as long as you have a half decent frame at the beginging say a t-pro , a rice riding quite strong frame, i say the freewheel, cranks, and forks deffiatly its amzing how much weight you can save with forks, but you should deffinatly get sealed bearing hubs p.s good post
basher
i'd have to say free wheel, pads, stem and bars, and frame when your going from a beginners bike to something better. like da bomb to echo.i totally disgree with isis bb. Danny Kearns
Right, most hubs are sealed bearing but that means f**k all, chris kings are sealed bearing but they are not the same as a t-master hub, reason being t-master hub has a fixed sprocket and it engage's up-front from the freewheel, where as the chris kings has freehub which engage's from the hub its self and that runs a fixed cog on the crank arm.As for what parts, if you have just brought a standard bike, for example a t-pro. Firstly you will might want to change your backwheel and get a sealed bearing hub on a stronger rim, bars and stem to make it ride nicer and brake pads for better braking performance. As for this whole saving weight thing, in my eyes the weight of your bike means nothing, trials is all about power so if you dont have the power then you have to have a light bike but the majority of the time people do have the power.Dan. Fvil
thanks everyone just so you guys know i ride a monty 221pr so the hub thing is all about the engagements (thought so) as i use a front freewheel, does this mean theres no need to upgrade this? Question why not the isis bb parts?
basher
isis bb's are better but its not really in my mind something that is needed to ugrade to. like poeple say muscle man cranks are crap, but i've had mind for ages and they've been bashed to f**k and they're spaured taped. and i wont replace them till they break, just because something is more expensive doesn't mean it always better. unless u've got abit of cash spare, as i see it dont replace summert till its broke. poopipe
as i use a front freewheel, does this mean theres no need to upgrade this? Question why not the isis bb parts? upgrading from an ACS freewheel to something with more engagements will have a definite positive effect on how nice your bike is to ride. changing the bb will probably have no noticeable effect on how nice your bike is to ridethat's probably why.the most important upgrades are brakes/pads and drive train. ned1
i would probably say the frame and then the brakes.although just upgrade things that you can afford so say if you can afford new brake pads but not a new wheel get the brake pads.i tend just to upgrade things when they break to be honest though. onzatprodude
make sure the length of the bike feels comfortable, make sure you've got a good back brake, and try and upgarde your freewheel to something like tensile £35, eno £80, or the try all freewheel £50 which all have a good amount of engagements (except the try which has a stupid amount - 108)
