Krisboats
All depends on your weight, were your riding etc etc, That was worth writing, helped loads If your heavy then stick a higher pressure in, or even if you just land hard. If your light/smooth then you could run less pressure and have more bounce. The average pressure is between 20-30psi, though some people run more and some less... its personal preference really. Streety riders tend to have higher pressures to improve rolling and to make spins a bit easier where as natural riders tend to have lower pressures for more bounce and grip.Try it with 25psi and if it feels too hard let some air out and vica versa. bikerider
Try it with 25psi and if it feels too hard let some air out and vica versa. That's good advice. I've also found different size tubes and tires make a difference. I ran a wide tire (2.5) with a 2.1 tube and needed about 26-27 psi in it. I then put a Maxxis 2.5 in and could run at 21 psi. For general use I've found 22 in back and 28 in front to be comfortable
brendan@medway riders
if you are a heavy rider then you should have the tyre pressure high so you don't rim every time you do a drop or if you backwheel but if you are a smooth rider you can have the pressure a little lower but i find that if i pump up the tyres rock solid then let air out of them until dropping or gaping and things like that feel really smooth and you don't rim easier than trying to guess what pressure to have brendan Edited July 12, 2006 by brendan@medway riders
zoo
Just get a digital tyre pressure teller thing....lol i've got one and i'm currently running 28.00 psi in the front 27.1 psi in the rear..and i find i still rim out on rolling gaps over 6 foot...guess you can say i am a bit of a 'heavy' rider hehehezoo baby! Tommy d
I mainly ride street, I have both my tyres at about 40psi, because I don't like to feel the tyre squashing on something thin (feels bad, and I fear puncturing)Also low pressures really hold me back trying to spin. I like to think I'm not a heavy rider, but then again tell that to my snapped Saracen MAD (p.s. my back wheel is a D521) Edited July 12, 2006 by Tommy d
nigel@hull_trials
i ride mostly street and i have my front at 20 psi and my back at bout 15 psi Edited July 12, 2006 by nigel@hull_trials
Wright Pads
Yet again in true TF style this topic/question yet to be answered.Go pump up your tyres so there hard okay (i'd say that be 35psi+)Then ride the bike out front of you house on the kerb.Let the tyres down a little at a time and give it a good 5 mins of rididng. Why you'll find what preasure feels rightTips, don;t have it too hard or it'll go bang and not gripNot have it too soft as you'll snake bit tyres and tubes and bend and dent rimsIt's all you feeling on tyre preasure and how much you weight and how hard you are at rididng

Apart from that rubbish about riding round for 5 minutes then letting some air out.

He need to get on the fecking thing and find it by rididng...duhBut you don't need to pump it up, ride it for 5 minutes then let some out, then ride it for 5 minutes etc. You can just start with a fixed amount, with the average pressure being 20-30psi pumping it to around 25psi will be fine and then either putting some in or taking some out as required will do the job fine and will most likely be a hell of a lot quicker. But we covered how to do that between posts 2 and 4 of this topic so i won't repeat whats already been posted.
