N Roach
hey, What is your over all view of the tensile freewheel, i now they haven't been out long but if you got this freewheel then leave good and back comments.
Mark W
For the 6 months I used one: Good Didn't have a single problem with it, it worked perfectly, and it was pretty easy to strip apart when I needed to take pics of the innerds ('specially as the production models have caged, open bearings).Sounds like some of the early ones had some issues with the lockring, but I think that was only on a small batch, as far as I know? N Roach
Sounds good so far, do they sound anything like a ENO when spinning? Edited July 11, 2006 by chocolate_bikes
Mark W
They sound like an Eno without a dirt seal, pretty much. I went to an Eno after my Tensile (didn't want to take it off my cracked cranks, and Edd Potts did me a great deal on his old Eno ), and with the dirt seal not seated properly, it sounded the same. Sounds like a Profile, except without every bearing in the Tensile dying, unlike Profiles

mat hudson
they also have the correct thread size for your cranks, unlike some other freewheels. how awesome.also, am i correct in thinking the rear veersion is now out? or out by mistake because of the regular thread by mistake on the first batch? or am i a gay? Mark W
Nah, it's open bearings, which is why they're cheaper

N Roach
Do i use a "bottom bracket tool" to screw the freewheel on?
mat hudson
yer. or your hands, seeing as its not a tryall one. man i'm a bitch. Edited July 11, 2006 by mat hudson
Mark W
For screwing it on you can do it by hand, but yeah, you'll need a standard BB tool to take it off Don't forget to grease the threads up so you have an easier time taking it off though

poopipe
fred munched his on the london ride thats just gonewas that at the same time he managed to twist his crank arm along it's length?if so i wouldn't say it reflected badly on the tensile really. trialsguru
was that at the same time he managed to twist his crank arm along it's length?if so i wouldn't say it reflected badly on the tensile really.no not that time hahaha but it was on another missed gap.i think he's just munched a bearing thats all
adamtrials
also, am i correct in thinking the rear veersion is now out? or out by mistake because of the regular thread by mistake on the first batch? or am i a gay?Im sure I read that it would only ever be FFW compatible, however a call to supercycles could answer that...I'd go with the gay option :wink2:
Super Cycles
If a Tensile freewheel did get "munched" - and you can be bothered to go to the trouble - it is possible to service them.At least, we have spare springs, pawls and caged bearing races. For anything else you need a new freewheel.
zoo
Can you actually take the freewheel apart without it chucking bearings in your face? i want to strip mine to see what tenisle have put inside it..mine sounds nicer than my eno did,the click is deeper.zoo baby! Mark W
You can indeed take them apart easily, 'specially with the caged bearings on the production models
JT!
I rode one a few days back, and i could tell the difference between my profile (same as the eno) and the tensile. But i really had to concentrate. The difference between them matchpoint wise is insignificunt. Everyone should go out and buy them and make ACS's a thing of the past. Edited July 12, 2006 by JT! N Roach
When you service a freewheel What type of things do you do? and make sure isn't broken?
