trialsguru
im finding that sidehopping to my right and breaking mech hangers is holding back my riding and is also pissing me right off!im running a pro 2 hub so a hanger banger wont fit and i really dont want to run a fresh products tensioner as its not sprung.is there anything out there thats sprung and will clamp onto my chain stay so itll be out of the way of walls that'll munch it?or is there anything else that i can try? at the moment iolo is making a super tough hanger for my that ive designed but i think my mech might just dieanything? help! Ali C
I use a steel hanger that I made, its 4mm thick heat treated steel, VERY strong!!!!! I have had it on for maybe 6 months now and its not even thought of bending, even with landing with all my weight directly on the mech!you might break your mech a bit easier, but they are pretty tough and can cope with a fair whack or two. Chris
Have a look at this home made chain tensioner, I'd say it's pretty cool. And it will be really hard to break, due to the small size, plus it is very close to the frame so there is hardly any part you can land on! King C
Don't worry pete I'll make you one. Or get Vinces dad to make you one and you know that wont break!
trialsguru
that would be cool king but id really like it to be a sprung tensioner for obvious reasons. that design ^ up there looks sweet as its tucked away etc maybe using a spring like the dmr tensioners use would work
Waynio
just buy a de-railer saver, iv had one on for 8/9 months and havent broken ONE hanger yet. i have to run gears for the brit champs, so no point taking them off if the de-railer saver stops the hanger from breaking and i dont have to swop to S/S all the time.there about £12.00 if that, trust me its the best thing you will ever buy.Waynio........................... trialsguru
but surely grinding it down will weaken the part thats supporting everything and stopping it from folding over?any chance of a pic dude just to see how you've done it, sounds like itll be the easiest/cheapest option

Phatmike
I've not found a problem having a non-sprung tensioner (the Fresh Products). I've slammed onto it pretty hard a number of times, and never snapped a hanger, and the fixed tension never gave me any grief...I'd just go with one of those! If you could knock up something like that it would be good

ScotchDave
I suggest that instead of spending a lot of money and time on a tensioner you make yourself a 3mm thick hanger out of mild steel, if it bends it bends back easily.

Ash-Kennard
get a rohlof, best thing you can do, solid, dont move, very hard to break and if you do break something you can easily get hold of a new version of the part which broke.the one up there is nothing like a leeson tensioner, the leeson ones are just one piece of metal with a roller, no springs, and the rubber wears down quite quickly.i know from experiance. Ash-Kennard
I can't comment on that, I was on about the leeson one.
