Chris Elson
HiI just need some help on how to pivot around while on the back wheel, if you dont get what i mean then, basically i want to turn around while bouncing on the back wheel. Any help? Thanks
anzo
Its hard to explain, but it depends what you mean.Say for example your on a wall, wanting to turn 90 degrees and drop off. In this case you just pull up, turn the bars to the direction you want to turn and give a little kick. This should lift the bike, turn it, land it and then you're set to drop off.OR you could go straight to back wheel and slowly 'jerk' it around to the direction you want to drop off at. This time you take it onto the back wheel as normal, and then (assuming you can pedal hop naturally) turn the front wheel a LITTLE bit to the way you want to turn.Turn too much and you'll just loose balance, a little bit has a big effect. As well as this you want to sort of turn with the bike, once you do it first time around, its pretty much second nature. Its very hard to explain, but practice makes perfect! I know I've not given much detail because its a pretty easy thing to do once you learn it and you never really put much thought into it...which I suppose is a good tip, don't concentrate on it too much. It'll all come naturally eventually Edited July 10, 2006 by anzo

M-i-t-c-h
Move your hips then your sholuders in the opposite direction so say you want to go clockwise hop shifting your hip left then your shoulers right slighly shorty afterwards. (this will help you keep your balance) just do small turns to start with and see how you go.hope this helps.Mitchxp.s moving the front wheel side to side helps, but you may find you an end up concentrating on that to much and your hopes will be really exagerated and gay, when you move your shoulders to keep your balance the wheel kinda moves anyway so you still get the style points
basher
first of all get really confident at hopping on the back wheel in the same spot. then theres 2 ways of doing it like some one sed. personally i first lernt how to do it by, the first hop that takes you on to the back wheel, i would turn the bike slightly in the direction im wanting to pivot as i go on to the back wheel. i felt it help alot because it gave me abit of momentum to get the bike round. then when i had got better i just practiced it from doing i from the back wheel with no little turn at first. to be honest its just practice, which ever way you do it you just need to practice as much as you can. try it on a curb first where you have as much room as you want to get the bike around, then go to a fair wide wall and do it on a smaller and smaller and smaller wall as you get better. brendan@medway riders
all you do is just get up on the back wheel and depending on which way you want to turn i turn to the left so il use that as an example basicley just do a little trials hop then at the same time pull in one of of your arms depending onwhich way you want to turn so if like me you turn to the left then you pull in you left arm and extend your right arm and at the same time as all of that flick your hips to the right and you should turn try practicing on some flat grass just to get the hang of it unless your a nutter and go straight up on a 8 foot wall and decide to try it that about it and i think there is a tutorials on trash zen .com about how to do it hope you get it brendan
carnagr
This technique just kinda 'clicked' for me last week. I can only turn left, towards my forward foot, but I can do it pretty damn well. Here's what helped me: turn the bars the way you want to go. Lean into the turn a BIT with your shoulder in the direction you turn the bars. Your shoulders will now be be slightly to the side you're turning, and your hips the other way. Now do a LITTLE, I emphasize little kick. As you kick, turn the bars the opposite way you're turning, and pop your hip out to where your shoulder was. Example: if you're turning left, bars left, hips right, then kick, twist bars right (shoulder follows bars), and pop hip out left. If you've done it right, you have now successfully turned a few degrees. Once you get the hang of it you can go about 20-30 degrees easily in one motion, but at the start you'll only go about 5.
