ramps
It would work, tar is just sticky and as long as some is in contact with the rim and pads at the same time there will be an improvement in braking. Remember not to put shit loads on though, it becomes dangerous and the brake locks on.
adamtrials
Yeah it would work, but tar is for gayboys. Grinding is slightly less homosexualbut real men use smooth rims...Oh, and NEVER, EVER use monty brake spray, it is the devils semen. Matt_Tupman
Oh, and NEVER, EVER use monty brake spray, it is the devils semen. AKA sugar and water

I prefer a nice light dusting of tar to big thick black stripes - its a lot safer. spin your wheelhold tar to rim until rim takes on a slightly brown tintstop immediately
Wright Pads
Demon Semen is just worng.Light coating of tar is a nice one, real men use powertools that make lots of noise and sparks. Oh and you also never get any winging or topic up here form riders that use grinds.Coke is good as it's refreshing, also hot days it goes all sticky and makes your brake work
ramps
But coke and other sugary drinks wear off really quick and are too loud, the really are loud as feck! They are better than tar though IMO!
Wright Pads
You clearly haven't heard my brake then. Nowt, Zoo pads, Zoo & Coke, Zoo & tar or any others have come clsoe to how loud mine is. Coke eats the sidewalls and your pads due to the acid thats used in the making of it. Bummer but it tatests so god dam nice
Dan6061
I put my Zoo pads one earlier, and still have a fairly light grind on, and they're loud!Wore down a bit at first...Oh, and tar does work. Especially with aftermarket pads like Plaz, Echo, Zoo etc. Edited July 7, 2006 by Dan6061
_Owen.
i use tar in lines going towards the hub (if you get me) and it works really well. at first it was too sticky and locked my brake but now it is worn it its fine.
MrSuave
ask angle grinder man what he thinks of tar[attachmentid=5830]
JT!
Lines towards the hub is the best way of applying tar. You get 100% rim coverage that way when you brake. It also helps putting too much on, as it gets spread evenly.Just remeber, on hot days like these you can easily put too much tar on, you can put more on easily, but it hard to remove. Put a little on (8 lines round the whole rim) and put more on if you need to.Cokes a stupid idea.
ogre
I find the best way to put tar on is put however mch you want/like on then find a hill and go down it so your pads are on the rim but obviously not locking your wheel, and the friction etc melts the tar and puts a thin layer all over the rim which works a beast
hicks
to answer my own topic i did it and found that it worked realy well no sticking but good braking !me thinks i will continue doing the lines ! thanks for the help
ben
doing lines of tar is for people that need to waste time putting tar on (just rub it on like lightly well the wheels spinning like 10 times easyer) yeah its ok but you get no real modulation its really good for a quick fix but a nice grind some good pads (CRMS) set up nice to the rim and you really shouldn't need tar. i find even if you use a tiny bit it will stick a little more wick just fells dirty.ben.
