boris_on_trials
It might not be that you have got a faster download speed. If you have xp it updates it self every now and again. My dialup :$ was really slow but a little pop up appeared one day saying that xp had updated. It seemed to sort everything out. This also happened to my friend's 4mb and it got faster after an update. JT!
Most of the time it runs at a decent speed. But sometimes it can be as low as 7kB/sec.
Wright Pads
Umm no XP will only update how you want it too. I have all the updates on a cd as i test the latest ones out. Vista today and it sucks on anyhting bar the latest cpu like Conroe..dual core!!!!
CBProductions
So you test updates out , meaning you look for faults and check coding and how it effects all the other programs ?
Lee Cable
Or, he downloads them, and instead of installing them, he sticks them on disk and installs one at a time. and that way he can see if any screw is computer and try and work out why
CBProductions
The last guy I knew who tested programs was a fully fledged computer programmer and has spent like years learning his shizzle to be where he was and even then he still didnt know enough to test for microsoft. I guess they are getting in some pro help from mr wright.

yoyoyo
I always thought it was only slow when more than one person is downloading, so when a zoo vid comes out and everyone is downloading it, it's very slow, and when no-ones downloading it, it's at normal speed. Wright Pads
Have you got a Intel Conroe..nope, will you be getitng one...maybe, any idea what it is..nopeLatest and great retail cpu form Intel. It's stupidly fast, low power and low heatI am the uk only to have the ES (enginering sample) Conroe E6700 ES. It out to buy in shops on the 23/24th of this month. How ever it's already dated by Intels new stuff.Vista will work on AMD 939 + stuff fine, Intel it's mizture but it's due tothe Visat having driver issues as you found out LeeI get all ES hardwear to test as part of NDA, BETA and load sof other stuff. Just need to know how to do a few bits and bobs. You do the test then you go over to clocking it bench marking it. Good stuff. As for the updates no i don't download any. XP is coded so that option of the auto update is removed. You too can do it using Win XP lite!!I get sent a disc every 2/3 weeks with all the latest updates for XP currently. How ever due to Vista XP is shutting down for temp time to forward Vista as too many flaws still like driver issues. Longhorn is the next bigest thing to come out and is scary.Vista need 4GB ram, PCI GFX 7900GTX (thats about the middel GFX to run it at full settings), dual or single hight threading core, then few other bits and bobsDon;t get me wrong Vista is amazing and works with the NDA stuff i got but i found flaws within currenty and now it's a public beta the report system is active a lot. It's the same with XP 64bit. Drivers are quite hard to find, alright they're not as hard to find as drivers for Vista but they're still quite hard to find. adamtrials
Just a question, why did they choose to send the only intel conroe in the country to you? Edited July 8, 2006 by adamtrials
