JT!
I just realised the price i was looking at for that Fuji finepix e550 is the refurbished price. Edited July 6, 2006 by JT!
Hobnobs
SLR - single lens reflex. Its all about the viewfinder and the fact the light goes straight through lens - prism - eye. Nothing to do with whether you can change lenses. With digital, you can safely say that if it has a screen which displays the picture you are about to take, its not an SLR. Anyhoo, rather off topic, but im very bored.

EDIT: Can you change the lenses on the Fuji S5500? Edited July 7, 2006 by Dan6061
F-Stop Junkie
What, fatty With the exception of the new olypmus, its true, or have i made a silly mistake. If you want to be picky - and hey, why not - an SLR denotes a path through the lens to the viewfinder. If your viewfinder is a screen relaying a signal from the sensor which views the scene through the lens, then technically any digital camera with live preview is an SLR.The new Olympus is just silly though. I don't know why anyone would want to use a larger camera at arms length and create a load of camera shake.

Fishwog
You've got to make a choice really, any self respecting Camera wouldn't find itself dead with a video mode, and the same vice versa...Also, if your budget is £100, you might aswell go spend that on some sweets, because that will get you nowhere. To put it into perspective, I have a digital SLR, of which cost me £510 body only, and its very much an entry level SLR, it doesn't have a video mode and I still get the odd picture come out over-exposed, over saturated, blah blah blah...It all depends on how serious you want to get with either of them, which would you rather do, take nifty little snaps and edit them until the world ends on Photoshop (my choice), or record hours of footage, and edit some seriously cool video's? (you can't do both with one 'device')Sam.
Tom Booth
The Fuji s5500, Is it easy to use ect? I am after a new camera, and reallllly fancy looking into half decent photography. and at £130 or 140, I'm intrested. I know Rob P used to use one and created some awsome shots with it. Lawnmowerman
The s5500 is a piece of piss to use, you can just flick it to auto and it'll take great shots all day long or you can switch it to manual and you can experiment. The one Merlin_Rider is selling is Rob_P's old camera. Scroll up for some pics i took using my s5500

Dan6061
Whats the difference between a refurbished one, and a brand new one?
adamtrials
Whats the difference between a refurbished one, and a brand new one? I think a refurbished one has been owned/ used before, but they refurbish them so they arebasically new. I wouldnt worry about a camera being refurbished, it should work like new. JT!
Sorry to hi Jack a little JT! but I'm really intrestedand its not worth its own thread.Go ahead i've made my mind up now, the one i mentioned at first, refurbished. You're better off buying merlin_riders really. He has a case, rechargeable batteries, memory card, 5 macro lenses in cases, adaptor ring etc all for £160 i think. It's immaculate aswell. Fookin bargain! It's just waaay too much than i need. Whats the difference between a refurbished one, and a brand new one? I read their site and the usual case is there's a faulty batch, so a whole load come back, and they get fixed and sold back on. Bascily, a brand new cam for alot less of the price.
