That fat sexy Welsh guy who brakes Ashtons was talking to me about his Fuji finepix e550 didgi cam. It looks alright, but i just wanted to see if there was any good bargins, or better deals out there.

Looking for one for about £100 ish, with some sort of rechargable system like the forementioned Fuji. Wanting to use it for the recording feature as much as the photo taking part. And just a nice all around cam.

Please note though, i'm not looking for someone to say, "I have 'X' is really good and i haven't had any problems with it, buy that". Because most people will have only ever had 1 or 2 cams in their lifetime, and i'll probably get about 20 different good opinions about different cams which won't really help me. I'm looking for an opinion of someone who maybe works with them, or knows alot about them etc.

Thanks. :D(Y)

You're looking for one that does good video, and stills, and costs about £100? You'll be lucky. The shutter lag (the time it takes to take a photo once you've pressed the button) will be so bad you'll struggle badly. I don't think you'll get terribly good video either.

If you want a video camera, buy one of those instead. If you want a stills camera, go and try a few out, but stick with brands like Fuji, Nikon, Canon or Sony and you'll more than likely end up with a good camera. Go and play with a few in the shop. See which you feel most comfortable with, and which are the right size for you to carry around and so on.

Job done.

Matt showed me a vid from his cam it's it's much better than i thought it was. Good enough for anything i'd be needing it for anyway.

I really do kinda want one for both. I've never had a cam befor, and it's not like i'ma pro or anything so i don't think it'll really matter what i end up with.

I would goto a few shops and have a look around, but i'd have to travel to a different town.

If you're just mucking about with video, then you'll have fun I'm sure, just make sure you get a high capacity card!

You'd be suprised how much of a difference there is between different cameras. Make the trip to another town if you have to, if you hold different ones in your hands, try the different nobs and dials, make sure it's comfy, then you'll know you've got the best for the money for you.

Better that than spend a hundred quid and regret it.

Maybe try and look for refurbished cameras? Cheaper and do the job but still with a warrenty.

There's a shop near me that does alot of them or i know you can get the Fuji s5500 camera or others in its range refurbished from somewhere for not to far above your budget.

Have a good search about, travel to a shop and see what you like, even if it's out of your price range (but not too far obviously :P) and then go online and search for the cheapest price refurbished etc.

Video Speed 13 fps.

iPod videos are only 15fps, you can't notice. I think you should be able to get something decent for £100. My old Olympus does reasonably good video and is a good camera too - And that will be about £60 by today's prices. But sorry I can't specifically help.

Here

Maybe the Fuji Finepix S5000 Zoom half way down the list? Should do you proud if you can stretch your budget to £129.

Has 30fps video at 320 x 240 with audio. Has all the manual image modes if you ever want to use them, i donut the shutter lag will be much but i'm not too sure, perhaps ask someone who has something in the range. Also has continuous shooting modes.

It uses 4AA batteries so if you buy some NiMH ones with a charger you can charge it all up again nicely. Also uses XD cards and you can buy a 1gb one from here for less than £30 which will do alot of video at that resolution. I think around 20 minutes but im not too sure.

I know it's a bit out of your budget but it's certainly something to consider.

I dont know how much the Canon ixus 40 is now days....but erm...best in its catagory. 640x480 30fps, doubt u will get better than that in a still image cam for videos.

Its only like 4mp but dont be fooled. All these 6-7 mp cameras...are no better...just the pictures can be printed larger withought loosing the quality. And lets face it...how many people f**king print off huge a4 pictures...( apart from 13 yr old busted girl fans )

Seriously...check em out...Im tempted to get another...as mine just broke( i dropped it in a club). Im prolly gonna get a 2nd hand one on ebay.

I agree. I've printed a couple of A4 size pics (of McFly, not Busted... You're so last year Joe) off my 3 megapixel camera and they look OK. It's certainly OK for your normal 6x4 or 7x5 anyway. So For 99% of the time, 4MP will be enough.

That looks pritty 'fullon'. Is that classed as an SLR?

Anway don't want one with any sticking out lenses on like that.
