dbtrialer
Is there any difference in the d521 and the EX721.Thanks.
Dan-Walker
I dont think there is any difference, the ex721 is just the newer version. I have both rims in my garage and i cant see a difference between them, both bloody strong rims.

BIG L
Yeah there is acording to my research the ex721 is used for disk brakes as of the way it i shaped and it is pretty strong and light whereas the d521 are supposed to be unbreakable but they are very heavy and cost quite a bit. Hope i've helped!
adamtrials
721Sounds/ looks exactly like a 521 to me...Sure you havent got confused with the numbers? Edited July 4, 2006 by adamtrials
mtbjosh
sorry big L but you are wrong, it is the heavier and round shaped EX729 that is the disk specific rim.the EX721 is now available in different stlyes such as ceramic, silver and anodised black, other than that they isnt any difference, just a money making scam for them to say 'oh look at our new developed 521 you should all buy it, its new' if theres a cheap unused 521, save your money thats if you want one as they are sex on a stick
adamtrials
The ex729 is a very nice dh rim indeed, the same as the old deemax but painted black and a load cheaper...But no good if you want to use a rim brake.
