Chris Walls
Hey people!Im going to be running a rear disk brake on my monty, and i want to get a fairly small size disk rotor so that im less likly to hit it.However the smallest disk rotors i can find are 160mm , i was wondering if anyone knows where i can get smaller rotors from? like 145, 150, 155 mm.Any help would be much apreciated
dave85
Smaller ones were fashionable a long time ago, i dunno if anyone still does them. This is the one time when its worth sacraficing 10 mil of ground clearance though.
adamtrials
Im pretty sure CRC stock disks for the C2 and the original mini, which go down to 145mm.You can get a 150mm rotor as spares for the clim8 6pot brake.Otherwise they come up on ebay now and then.(Obviously it shouldnt matter what brake the rotors from as long as it is the right diameter)
Davetrials
Ive seen 110. but why sacrifice good braking and ur spine for a wee bit of ground clearance just try harder, u can still hit a small rotor..
adamtrials
I cant really see a 145mm rotor being that much of an advantage, it will be less powerfulthan 160 and only save 7.5mm clearance, thats tiny! Chris Walls
orite cheers guys, i didnt realise the performance would be affected :$ i think i will just stick with the 160mm.
ScotchDave
I personnaly reckon 160 on the rear is a bit small, I'd go for a 180.

AdamR28
On the rear of a mod bike? A 160 should be MORE than powerful enough, its equivalent to approx 205mm rotor on a 26" wheel! The 180mm Mono Trial I have kicks pretty much all Maguras into touch quite easily...Adam
mat hudson
what have you done to it to get it to work well, lukes one has loads of bite but no hold AT ALL. we did the "tip water oveer it and ride" jobby. worked with my avid and marks. wierd ! AdamR28
Faced mounts, re-bled (properly), got a new sytle rotor, perfectly set up, no contamination... that's about it - just a properly set up brake.Edit: How old is Luke's brake/rotor? mat hudson
he bought the rotor off you a while back, didnt he? about 4 months tops. and the pads were brand new at the time aswell. Edited July 5, 2006 by mat hudson
