V8 bearings are shit, they lose their pins really easily, and they feel tiny. Good enough reasons? :P

EDIT: Nah, they're not too bad I guess, just that I've had a shitload of bad experiences with mine in the past... Some people seem to get on really well with them though...

I've had the same set of outland pedals on my bike since pretty much the dawn of time... ok not that long, but about 4 years, never serviced them, and they still run smooth as anything, they're slightly bigger than V8's too, and pins are all still there!!!

Hmm, starting to think I just don't ride hard enough, haha!

If you're going sealed, go DX. I just got some for my BMX and they feel awesome :)

have you got a link to the DX's as ive never seen them???

About £45-50 for them, pretty much. DXs are under the feet of a shitload of BMX and DH riders, and a few trials riders too. They're basically the original flat pedal, and work incredibly well. Good bearings, good concave, good pin placement, etc. They're just great!

The X-Pedals are just mad light and still really grippy. I've had mine on for quite a while now, and aside from needing to threadlock the left-side axle nut to stop it coming loose, that's the only issue I've had :)

EDIT: I know £50 is a lot for a pair of pedals, but I put those X-Pedals on a year ago now, and they've just span around and done their job. In the year preceding that, I went thrhough about 4 pairs of unsealed pedals. With an average price of around £20 for them, that's £80 at least for them. It works out better in the long run (Y)

OH LORD OH LORD i have now ridden the most sexual pair of pedals in the world, and i REALY want a set bu at £80 they are abit expensive.........

What were these pedals you may ask...........

WEll, the new Atomlab Aircorps, prawn has them on his new ashton and they are the most comfortable pedals I have EVER ridden, nice large platform and VERY grippy if they weren't so expensive i would be tempted by a set....

The Wellgo V12s are good except for one thing: the outer rear bit (hard to describe) where the pins are will break. There's no support underneath it; one of mine snapped off after a couple of weeks. Having said that, I've barely noticed the difference, the rest of the pedal supports your foot well enough.

Although I do ride in steel toecapped boots at the mo so my boot is probably doing most of the supporting...

to be honest V8's are nasty, like has been said before the bearings are shocking in them and even if u pack them completely full of grease they dont last that long.

DX's are very nice but they have pretty low pins in them, down to personal choice I guess. Still the 'standard' in flat pedal design, ultra ultra smooth :)

Best pedals Ive ever ridden, Club Roost 2D's. Have yet to find a single set of pedals that match them for lasting quality. Still got a pair after over 4 years of use, now on my current bike and as smooth as buggery!

Shame u cant buy them any more though :(

The VP pedals are pretty popular, but if u like the platform style ones then grab some V12's which will last u bloody ages!

One other pedal that I never got to try, the Crank Bros 50:50 flat pedals. Saw a pair come in just before I left Evans, and they looked fookin sweet! If anyone's tried then how do they feel?

Dx pedals are awful. the pins are tiny and just break and they make my feet ache. i have some gusset slimjims on my trials bike and they are awesome. pins are very hard to rip out due to the design. sealed bearings too. only 30quid from tarty. get them, honestly they are great pedals. onza hognesiums are nive and light if your smooth. but my axle bent and pins rip out so easily

Either Prawn or Bigman full-bore raped their Gussets, and I've heard of many cracking in between the two struts on the body where there's no support, no to mention pins coming out easily? There's only two pins on each side that are put in well, the rest are just as bad as V8s...

true but they are pin that recieve nearly all impact force. didnt know about bigman and prawn, hmm i still stick with the fact the are great pedals and better than dx. shindigs are rather heavy but i never lost a pin outa my old set.

Twas Mr Prawn, mine are still going strong, i am not so harsh on my pedals as Nick is, all that is wrong with mine is that a few pins have gone missing, but that would have happened with any other pedals.

I was gonna get the gusset ones, but ended up getting some attila bmx pedals, which mark recommended to me.

They are pretty good, nice big platforms and burly design, although i did end up buying some terror pins for them for extra grip as i found the origional pins a tad short (but the terror pins are slightly long  )

good pedals though, i got mine from alansbmx!

I bought some Snafu pedals the other week after my V8's shat the bed. Really nice and comfy, Massive platform, grippy, spin nicely and just look good. Picked mine up from Hellfrauds for £20 I think....

Anyway

I whipped the central pins out front and rear, and it was all good. Getting them direct or from DFTU is always a good plan too ;)

Ive got some on my bmx ..... They spin soooooooo fast its scary

they are mega comfy and gripy - probs because they are very big.

Incidentally - Ive had the same pair of V12 mags on my bike for 2 years - never taken them apart and serviced them and they are still going strong... only lost like 3 pins too - infact the most damage they have had to them is the left one has ground away on the corner slightly, where i have been learning to hook.....
