Davetrials
Why is it i use the same setup up front than i did on the back, and it was AMAZAZING on the back, but up front its just plain wank.521 rim with magic pads, they squeaked and just worked like beastys on the front with a fresh grind then dont squeak there not very good and just make a swhooshing noisesurley 4 bolt mounts cant make that much difference cos thats the onlt thing thats different. munkee
For a proper good on off brake up front, zoo pads. This is the only ever time i would recommend them for a trials bike. I ran them on the rear for a few days.. because thats all they could take they wore so f**king fast and were pretty f**king shocking anyway. I stuck them on the front till they ran out of material and my god.. they are easily as good as a disk brake. If you want the super long pad life and greatness go for plaz yellows. If you want an amazing front brake.. then zoo pads.
Caleb
yeah plaz do, the yellows and the clear pads.i had the clear one son the front of my base like 2 years ago and they were insanely powerful, could always cake your rim in tar? Dan Clark
get a ceramic 521 rim, made Paul Olivers front brake irritatingly grabby.
Mark W
Check your pads and make sure there's no glaze from the grind on them. My Koxx greens go super shiny and metallic about 2-3 days after I grind just 'cos as the material smoothes off some transfers onto the pad, and has the same problem you're talking about. I just clean them off after and they're fine though. I know that's on the rear, but might be worth a crack? When I was in my front Magura days I always used to use Plaz CRM pads, and they worked super well. Mine wore pretty quick, but then lasted for forever. Literally. The clear Plaz pads are Spanish Flies, if they're the ones I'm thinking of... Davey
Don't assume that because it's the same setup it will work the same front and back. 4 bolt does make a difference (well it bloody well should or what's the point) and also at the back when the brakes are pulled the rim is pushing them back into the frame which is good and strong, but at the front it is pulling them away from the forks which is not as rigid! But all the above advice helps, either that or get a set of forks with rear mounting brakes Davey
munkee
But all the above advice helps, either that or get a set of forks with rear mounting brakes Davey Yup te pace rc whatevers were f**king ace for the rear mounted brake mounts. Shame the forks couldnt take it and cracked right around the mounts. Was still a good idea anyhows
