Streety Stem

hi everyone, i have decided to make my riding more streety but I feel that to do this i will need a new stem with a bit more rise and a little shorter. my current stem is 5 degree rise and around 110mm long wich makes manuals etc. hard. any opinions on lengths and which stem is good to go with would be much apreciated

cheers

Depends on how much you are willing to spend?. I run a hope freeridestem( 0 rise, 50mm)which is stiff and light, the best stem iv ever had. These usualy cost around £55 depending on where you buy from but it will probably be the last stem you will buy, due to hopes reputation for building some of the best hardware on the market.

I find running a bar with lots of rise a good idea if you want to create a streetier bike as well as your idea of a short stem.

I found that using bars with 2.5 inch or rise was loads and it brings up the front end nicely for manuals and stuff like bunny hops. Lots of people say that running your bars tilted back slightly is better for making the bike feel streetier so you could try that but its really just playing around with tilt to find what you'll like best.

The base bikes frame is such a good street bike to be running a short stem and riser bars with it makes it so whipy. Pulling spins, if thats your bag, is effortless.

Also if you are running any stackers on your forks then put them underneathe your stem that will bring up the front end too. (Y)

hope this helps you out.

Dont actualy know if anybody make 2inch rise trials specific bars. Any downhill bars will do for street riding though, i ride tioga dh bars on my Pashley and my DMR.

Trying to find a set of bars that suit you could take while because most bars are'nt made the same. Some have different degrees of rise, upsweep, backsweep and width.

Then you have to figure out what material you want them to be made out of .

Try using some of your friends bikes and see if any of them suit you. Ask the local bike shop aswell.

ahhh im the only stock rider in our little group (im the only one who rides a real mans bike :P ) i currently run race face evolve DH bars which are oversized (31.8) but they only have 1 inch rise. this is why i was wondering about a taller stem. Cheers for all help so far
