And why make it worse for everyone by pouring salt in to the wounds and laughing at England and cheering on Portugal. Absolutely f**king insane, and seriously frustrating. And Mark, use your f**king head. They get 'insane' salaries because of simple demand and supply economics. It's not hard. People (quite a shit load of them at that) like spending money to go see a game, or to buy merchandise, and that's why there's a lot of money in football, and thus their salaries. The ref sent him off for pushing ronaldo who shouldnt have run up to the ref anyway if it was one of us that had run up it would have been a yellow. Henman in Tennis I wouldn't cheer and be happy because he's knocked out again even though I dont really like Tennis.Also Wages point.. thats just the way it is. They get payed alot of money for kicking a ball about, but there professional's and its still there Job to do so therefore they get paid top money for playing for top clubs. Just because something "is the way it is", doesn't mean we have to agree with it, does it? I can think of cases in the past where something has been the case and you've argued against it. I don't think footballers should be paid as much as they are. I am aware that the best players need to be paid more for clubs to keep them. That still doesn't, for me, justify there salaries. I was "using my f**king head". I don't think I was laughing at England either? I thought they deserved to win, especially the way they played after Rooney got sent off. It appeared to be the first time in the entire tournament they played like a team who were this far into the competition should've done. And like I said somewhere else on here, I thought Owen Hargreaves deserves a medal for how commited he was to it. It was great to see a footballer actually playing football, getting stuck in, getting tackled and not rolling about like a twat, etc. If they all played like him I may begin to agree with their salaries, but as it is, they don't. Mainly how the portugese crowded the referee every chance they had to try and get someone booked.Also on the penalties how players stop before they kick it, it means that if the keeper dives they hit it the other way. But if he stands still when he stops, the player kicks it in the corner giving the goalie no chance to reach it.At least next time we will have Lennon, who plays harder to get his place than earning shed loads like beckham and waltzing into the side.Meh, were out. mod_rider Posted July 1, 2006 Report Share Posted July 1, 2006 Jeez a topic made about our country getting through to the final stages of a world tournament and people still have to find a negative to it.Don't understand why in a tournament England got into which happens once every 4 years, it couldn't be looked upon positively. I agree fully with all the stuff about how much they get paid, but I still have been looking forward to the world cup.Why we lost in my opinion:- Sven playing a 4-5-1, seemed like he was just trying for a draw when he should've had rooney and crouch up front from the start.- Playing Lampard in the team. He's good in the premiership, but this tournament he has played appaulingly. Sven seems to go on the reputation of the player though, not on how they're currently playing. Then to make it worse he gives him the first penalty, then him missing and adding more pressure to the other players.- Not sure how the selection process is, but having an Argentine referee in a match like this.- Cristiano Ronaldo, I wouldn't be suprised if he never comes back to England after today, and I'm pretty sure Man U will sell him. Rooney should've given him what he needed in Heighnsight (sp?).- The way football seems to be played, where if Rooney had dived on the floor moaning he would have got a free-kick, but he did what I think footballers should do, and try and carry on and win the ball, in-turn causing an argument and getting sent off.As has been said, after we went down to 10 men, England worked their socks off, just a shame Sven couldn't make the most out of the players he's got. I have no idea why? is it an act of jealousy, stupidness or down right ignorance? Everyone has a great time bitching about how the country is run and how we hate chavs etc but as soon as it comes to supporting the country, a place which can be dwarfed in size and population by many of the other teams in the world cup then it seems its f**k england who cares. There are plent of sports i dont like but its good to see england doing well, why the f**k dont you have some pride in what you are? why do you have to be so negative. Its just like voting everyone has an opinion but when it comes down to it no one ever bothers. Things like this just piss me properly off, im not a fan of football but i watched it because for a few weeks it felt like the people of england had something to look forward to and a reason to get up the next day ( far fetched maybe?). A bunch of kiddies shouting yeaaaa portugal won.. it just reminds me about why everyone looks down on our country, you cant even respect eachother. Something we should all be used to since we ride trials which isnt looked upon as a very "sociable" sport by the general public.All in all, not wanting to sound like a willy.. but its dissapointing to see.
