Davetrials
So how the hell do you work out a trillion?
Extreme_biker0
Yeah, after million (6 0's after the one) it goes billion (9 0's) then trillion (12 0's)Ie for ever new word you add 3 zero's. Therefore a trillion is a thousand billion. After trillion is quadrillion, and then possibly pentillion? (edit: quintillion, then sextillion, looked it up )I dunno it follows that other (latin??) way of saying numbers anyway, ie bi, tri, quad Edited June 29, 2006 by Extreme_biker0

Rich Pearson
Did you know that a Trillion wasn't in fact ever used until the US government created the number because they needed a simpler way to add up their defence budget. True story...Rich
Haz
I heard today on BBC radio Berkshire today that the total amount of money borrowed for mortgages in the UK is over a trillion. The number of times they said trillion just to rub it in was amusing to say the least.

Spikenipple
The 'illion' numbers are named after the Latin (i think) numbers, like Mono, then 'Bi', then 'Tri', then Quad, etc etc.So it goes Million, Billion, Trillion, Quadrillion...Or at least that's what I think it does anyway (I couldnt' be bothered to click the Wikipedia link, will do now actually)
