could you not tell him you got robbed or something so you dont have the money anymore?

or you could tell him if he waits then you could get money in next week or whatever, then he will either have to agree to wait or if not at least he knows your trying to sort it out, so he will be less annoyed.

i dont think he can take it to court :S

im pretty sure he can if its the terms of contract thing he's trying to pull

I suggest pay his ebay fee for putting the ad up and pay for it to be put up again. That way he'll get something back and wont have lost any money

He/she can't take you to court (well i don't think they can), all they can do is give you negative feedback and report you to ebay. I did it ages ago, and ended up with a -1 feedback score, which didn't allow me to use ebay from that account anymore. I don't think and more than that can be done, so don't worry.

He can't take you to court. He's probably just pissed off 'cause you was a f**king moron.

I hope you've learned your lesson.

eBay will probably ban your account, and ban you from ever using eBay again, at a guess. Especially such an expensive item.

just abit ott

Not really. People that bid and then don't pay are the thorn in eBay's bollocks.

He can't take you court.

"Oh sir judge, this man bid on an item and didn't pay"

- "Give a shit, i've got murderers to convict"

I've not heard of one case of someone being taken to court.

Also, they will take one look at the IP log and account activity and trends, and notice straight away you are bull shitting. They'll probably still ban the account, either way, and possibly you for ever. E-mail, IP, name, paypal, etc etc, you get the idea.

I don't even use eBay, but thats from past knowledge.

IP is your internet address. Its unique to you, and doesn't change that often, sometimes never.

Umm i'm not too sure, someone else will explain, basically you have an IP address at each computer location, so your comp will have a different IP to mine.

What i'm suggesting is that ebay may be able to check your IP history and see if other IP address's have been used with your account. So if you have a history of just your same IP over and over again, ebay won't believe you.

I think.......

when you list something on ebay and it sells you have to pay a percentage of the winning amount to ebay.

therefore, assuming this was a large value item, he will have to have paid paypal quite a bit, just for the simple reason that it sold.

He can't take you to court... he can leave you negative feedback and can file an unpaid item strike against you where he fills in some form telling ebay what happened and they then check it out. I've had an unpaid item stike when i left my computer at school logged into my ebay site and my mate thought it would be funny to buy an air filter for a car... i just told the seller i didn't have a car and didn't buy the item and got a message saying that i'd had an unpaid item strike. That was all that happened about it as well :-

Also if he relists it because you didn't pay, ebay will pay the relisting fee's so don't worry about that, just forget about it now... you've done it, the most they can do is ban you from using ebay, and what they are more likely to do is look at your previous references... see your a nice guy (if you've got some good feedback mind you) and just let you know you've received an unpaid item strike... whatever the f**k it is :S There is absolutely nowhere on the ebay site that describes what one of these strikes is.

Don't be a c**k again and hope they let you carry on using ebay.

EDIT: just found out ;) "eBay will issue a strike on the account of the buyer who does not honor their obligation to pay. If a buyer gets too many strikes in too short a time period, their account will be suspended indefinitely."

Too short a time being 3 in a year.

He can take you to court, but in 99% of cases it's not worth the bother. You were a dickhead and you should feel ashamed of yourself, suck up the -1 feedback and stop worrying. You're not going to court. Just don't do it again.
