I have been to Dubrovnik, but I don't really know what the beaches are like there. There were some around and about. To be honest if you go in the middle of summer to somewhere in the mediterranean, it's gonna be nice anyway.

Dubrovnik is a very cool city though if you're interested in any site-seeing ;)

I love that city! It's so nice! My dad, Older brother and I when there two years ago. It was really nice! Don't go on the beach and get burned, have a walk around the city walls. (Y)(Y)

We went to a small island called miljet. Biking and sailing, ace. The Nealson activity holidays, were going to Greece next sunday! Can't wait! :D:D:D

I think it's Neilson. Yeah, that should be amazing. I did sailing in Croatia a few years ago and it was the best holiday I've ever been on. So much sun :D

ive got a house in a small village called baska voda, its about 90mins south of split airport, and afew hours up the coast from dubrovnik.

croatia is AWESOME!!!

your house is 50yards from the most amazing beach, there are bars all along the beach, open until 4-5am every night, and beer is around 42p a pint!

anywhere southernish tends to be really nice!

the places near us i could reccomend are Brela, Baska Voda, Tuceppi, and makarska. all are awesome, and fairly small to not too comercial. and all have awesome beaches and loads of watersport activities.

basicly, its just like spain, but without the c*unts..... weather is incredible.... one morning i woke up it was 38 degrees inside my bedroom :S

but there are lots of nice palm trees to shade under :)

Wow, i've just got home from Baska Voda. Went to see my sister, she's working there in Hotel Horizont if you know where that is?

I was really impressed with it, perfect weather, although it was nearly unbearable at about 3. The beaches are pebbles but i prefered them to sand actualy as it doesn't get everywhere.

Where are the bars that stay open until 4 and have beer at 42p a pint though!?

hahaha, at the other end of the beach to hotel hirizont, around the coast a few hundred yards towards Brela.....!

theres one little cafe/bar, just past the jetski hire guys, where larger is 42p/half litre, and they are open all night pretty much, and have dancing girls on tables after about 11pm :D:D:D

  • 3 weeks later...

I've just booked some flights to Split for me and my girlfriend. We're probably gonna camp but haven't got as far as looking at accommodation or anything yet.

So does anyone know what the best thing to do - Campsites? Can we just turn up and pay?

And also getting to the islands - Are there little boats and stuff for hopping from one to the other, or are they just big ferries that are expensive and you have to book?

Thanks :)

im going out there on the 26th of august for a week :D

flying into split on the saturday, and renting a car and heading down to Baska Voda that night.

as for getting to the islands, there are a few small boats that go from random places, or you could go on one of the fish picnic boats, i think a few of them stop at some of the islands.

im really looking forward to it, and the mega heat here means its not going to be anywhere near as bad when i go out there!

croatis rocks!

Cool, cheers Prawn. How much is car hire? And what stuff do you need - just a UK driving license? I thought you had to have 4 years driving experience or something to drive on the continent?

thats in the EU, which Croatia is not. i found a place over there that are charging me £125 for a weeks hire, and will allow it with me aged just 19 with a full UK licence! found them really easily online. i think the car i get is either a chevy Matiz, or a toyota Yaris. neither are amazing, but its MEGA cheap and theyre good little economical run arounds!

my dad reckoned the VVT yaris was a right laugh :P
