Egg Fried Rice
hi allone of my riding friends has got some fairly loud creaking noise from the bottom bracket area.the sound also sounds like forks when they bend so this could suggest frame bend due to a crack. hes got a 1 month old bottom bracket so it is unlikely it is that. i believe that there is a crack in the frame. please helpthanksJohn Kan

BeNNy
Maybe BB needs greasing up.
RandomHero
has it got a front freewheel?it may be the freewheel coming loose.or the freewheel hitting the BB shell.
Will Arnold
all you need is a large bucket of grease just check grease in the bb threads and all parts which sit alongside eachother. also put some in the headset, again on all parts in contact with summit else.should be ok
anzo
Personally, I think the clue is in the post. His BB is one month old...that to me suggests a bit of tightening
Alun Goch
Take the BB out and look at it.Take the forks out and look at them.Look at the headset.Look at the frame.Done this doesn't seem to work. Should I look for longer?! Anyway, have a good look around to make sure there's no cracks, then grease up (or you can use the plumbing tape) the bb threads and get them nice and tight Alun
justfuzzit
Best thing to do to make your BB not creak is to tape the cup threads with teflon tape. Works quite well. I do it all the time.
adamtrials
Also check if your pedals are knackered, i cba to grease mine so they creak quite a bit.
Mark W
If it is new, and you didn't grease it up good 'n' proper before you put it in, it'll most likely be that. Even if it feels tight, if the threads are still 'dry' then the tiny amount of flex between the two metal surfaces will be enough to make it 'crk', so just get some grease on the go. Stuff like lithium grease works super well for this. The wank, wank, wank, wank, wank grease Mat sold me won't Get some grease on the tapers/interface too and you're all good. You can pretty much follow the "Strip 'n' lube" principle for anything on your bike, and certain bedroom scenarios too.
