Validation

I don't know if I'm allowed to ask, but anyway whats the point of all this validation stuff?

Most forums I've been on just let you join and thats it, but TF seems different. I don't mean to criticise but it all seems to be a bit tedious. Why not just let people join?

Cheers (Y)

Because most of the interest in trials is from teenage boys,

and some teenage boys like to spam forums. By having the validation

system it means there is only one forum to mess up, not loads which

would be a pain to have to go through deleting the posts.

And also it means that the posts in the main forum are generally good quality,

not like much of the crud in here.

Also any old scammer could sign up and try to scam people in fs/wtd section.

Well if you read most of the threads, there is utter shite posted but complete wank pots!

They get kept in here so that the rest of the forum isnt contaminated.

An example, the wethepeople forum doesnt have this sort of thing, and you usually get wankers posting bollocks on it and being tits. Noone can do anything about it.

Good question, but the answer becomes apparent when you compare the difference in topics from the New Members Chat and the Trials Chat.

IF your a little kid that likes to ask questions such as 'izit gud 2 pedel hopp' then you can imagine, if your a normal person, how fun it is to try and decrypt the language (sarcasm).

Simply, I guess it keeps the forum tidy and useful. :)

Basically its to filter out crap members, members here to cause trouble.

Also so that we dont have to read all the crap that comes out of some of the new members.

I think the main reason is because of the scamming though, thus why for sale or wanted threads arent allowed in new members anymore.

I'm starting to think that a topic like this should become a sticky in n/m then people who have just joined actually know what validaton is, because i didn't realise when i first joined and thought the forum was up the creek not letting me in other areas. I'm wiser now, well mabey :P

The average age of new people to bike trials is around 16 (12 if you go by this forum). This means most people (i say most, as there are some exceptions) haven't developed a sense of maturity, nor self initiative. This in turn means that they spout crap, that they think is funny, and also ask questions which have been asked 100x before, or that they could easily figure out if they used their own initiative.

They also believe that the english language is a playground and go at it with an axe thinking its acceptable.

There is also such a thing as forum etiquette, which takes a while to figure out, but again requires common sense and initiative to work out, which rather a few lack.

Fair enough I suppose, you do seem to get a lot of repeated topics in here, ie. Someone asking the same question someone asked two days ago.

If it's a way of protecting people from scams then thats good.

It's just a shame that a lot of genuine people have to wait so long.

Thanks Tomturd - Just noticed (Y)
