How High Do You Think....

How high do you guys reckon a camel could hook?

We're having a bit of a debate, personally I reckon they could hook pretty well due to them being pretty tall. Stan, however, thinks they'd be crap at hooking due to having stiff legs (something he has no actual proof for though!). Adam thinks they'd be a bit crap at hooking, but could do a sorta pedal-bunnyhop to 4 hooves.

Seeing as though they can drink 200 litres in one sitting, we'll assume that for this hooking test they are empty, thus 200kg lighter.

Personally I reckon if they went for it and didn't mind bashing their stomach they could easy get 6ft to 4 hooves, back hooves might be a different matter though.

So....what do you reckon?

Latest news is stan reckons they'd snap their legs (Again, an un-substantiated claim!!!).

.... Ok you crazy bastards no doubt you are going to actually tax some real camels to try this... so make sure you whap some shinguards and a helmet on them. The flexability is also an issue will this be a lazy camel or an absolute nut bar of a camel.

Research...

Camels, if of the right breed, are very good on rock and in mountainous country; they are as agile and as steady as mules. But if they are plain- or sand-bred camels and not used to rock they cut their feet, fall and break their bones. No African or Arabian camels can stand mud. They slip, split their breast bones, and break up. Camels can however stand a lot of cold with impunity if it is dry; a lot of wet weather is bad even if the climate is warm.

Not sure about hooking, but they obviously prefer natty.

f**k, imagine your camel just falling apart

I reckon they'd be pretty beast at upping-to-front-hooves though, to be fair. Good amount of momentum, nice high BB (high riding position :P) so they'd get the weight over the front better, it all makes sense.

Bit more...

The strength of a camel is in his fore limbs. His quarters are weak. The breast pad on which the sitting camel rests and bears his load is, roughly speaking, under the withers. The camel's load is carried forward. Where there are two girths, of the two baggage load lines the forward ones in each case do the work; the hinder ones are for balance and steadiness.

That's a good point!!

They're proper front end heavy, so they'd be able to up to front hooves (think coust rolling hop things) really well!

Ha ha, what a topic...

I personally think they'd be able to hook about 7+ feet for the fact that their legs are like 5 feet long so if they jumped they could easily get their front legs up a 7 foot wall, then all they have to do is haul their ass a bit and the jobs a good 'un

Now the real question is how well can a kangaroo fufanu a wall?

Surely the leg will be where all the muscle is(from walking around), so they should have quite a bit of power. So they should be able to get high. Especially if they get their balance point forwards to gain momentum.

They should be able to sidehop properly well. Probably more "to front" more than "to 2 (or 4 in this case)", but even so, big springy legs = big springy power, just ask Benito. Benito even looks like a horse/camel.

Maybe Benito is a camel?

Benito can hook 6ft or something, so yeah, it appears The Tarts are right...

Maxxis Camel Crawlers

if there anything like creepy crawlers i dont recon they would be able to hook very high (its hard to hook with a puncture :P ) but if they have a better tyre choice i recon they could hook around 4'6" and 1/8th but i dont think the frame would last very long due to the oober thin belly tube (as it is a competition animal (xtp stylee))

I see the glandular fever is taking its toll!

I think it depends on what camel you use. Steel is reel, but for pure hooks and TGS street you need a camel with a bit of length. What's the hoof-base on a camel? Because if you know that you're well on your way!
