Rebelistic
Hi, It's not trials related but I expect a lot of trials riders do freeride.Anyway, I went riding at chicksands the other day and afterwards I noticed my rear shock had leaked it's oil . Its an X-fusion spring shock (I think) on a Scott Nitrous, only about 7-8 months old. The shock came with the bike.Do you think its worth trying to get it repaired under warranty? Is it cheap/easy to just get my LBS to replace the oil seal?If you read the small print just doing a small drop invalidates the warranty . Perhaps it's a crap shock and I should upgrade to a better one .Cheers
CurtisRider
get a newun, itll probbaly cost more than its worth to repair the shock, you can pick up vanilla r shocks for as little as 30quid on ebay basic but bloody good shocks, i had 1 on my stinky and it performed perfectly! Rebelistic
Cheers for the help, I might checkout supercycles as I'll have to get some more mech hangers soon anyway.

CBProductions
Buy a bloody romic and stop your bike from feeling unloved .
pollocks
i'd have a go under warranty no matter what happens its worth a try i mean why pay for something when you can get it for free
the judge
i'd have a go under warranty no matter what happens its worth a try i mean why pay for something when you can get it for free because, even though it would have been fixed for free, a vanilla r or a romic would most probably perform better than an x-fusion
adamtrials
Buy a bloody romic and stop your bike from feeling unloved .And then make your bike and shock feel unloved when you cant get it serviced anywhere decent...5th element are where its at
pollocks
i'd have a go under warranty no matter what happens its worth a try i mean why pay for something when you can get it for free yes but what is the point of spending money for the sake of it ?? lol i mean if you were to get the shock replaced or fixed under waranty you then have a shock to either use or sell
adamtrials
Yeah just get it done on warranty, its only a scott nitrous so you dont really need a super fancy shock.

I know there will be different specs but it's essentially the same frame.

the judge
Oooh, ive opened a can of shite here lolNot really, I suppose you do have a point as it must have been a lower model as it came with an x-fusion in the 1st place. I just meant that Nitrous's aren't a crappy bike or anything.
adamtrials
Yeah i know what you mean, ignore my 1337est dh biking opinions...I cant really moan, my atx 1 has a rockshox coupe deluxe...Hardly the best shock ever. TheMunn
Get in touch with scott through your lbc, I work in a scott dealer and the warrenty guy there, Paul, is very good. Either that or get in touch with supercycles about the shock itself. Don't buy a romic, they have serious valving problems! 5th element are good on single-pivot suspension bikes, makes it ride more linear. Failing those fox are pretty hard to beat, although theres been a few minor problems with the valving on the new dhx shocks. On another note, i'm at chicksands quite a bit, i'll try bumping into you some time. It won't be soon though, i've just dislocated my shoulder racing nps 4x in wales! But i'll be at chicksands for the last nps round for sure! mike425
Fox all the way if you cant get a warranty. Ive run pretty much every shock going at some point, had an avalanche on my brooklyn, romic on the PDC, 5th in a balfa, dhx in various frames, even the old rockshox thing in my old giant and then i had a curnutt in a foes mono for a while. The dhx blew the lot out of the water based on performance/price/useability etc. Im running 40s now as well, i think fox pretty much have sus nailed now.mike

Let me know when your next down chicksands (johnstuff@hotmail.co.uk)Thanks for all the advice guys . I might try under warranty but if it's a bit of a crap shock then I may be better off just getting something decent. I do land hard sometimes and the shock has too be up to it
adamtrials
I would say get a free one on warranty, then ride it until it breaks, then get a better shock.
willwithashton
Well i would say you have blowen the seals in the shock. quite cheap to get repaired but if you want to upgrade then you may as well get a new shock. hehe i ride with a 5th element shock.
