PV_Joker
Did a quick search and threw up a blank, but it's late and I'm pretty tired so don't blame me if this has been covered before.I've noticed that my rear magura is sticking, when I pull the lever it goes out fine but does not retrack fully. If I push the pad away from the rim with my fingers it retracts all the way. I've checked to make sure the pad isn't sticking to the rim, that it isn't getting caught on the body of the break and also that the cylinder is clean. I'm pretty cetain that there is no air in the system either. Furthermore, the problem seems to be quite random, sometimes it sticks and sometimes it doesn't. I'm confused and all out of ideas. Any help with this would be much appreciated as it's really starting to affeect my riding and cause me to lose confidence.CheersJames
the judge
Try taking the wheel out, hold one pad in and press the brake lever so that the other comes fully out. Spray wd40 on the exposed bit of the cylinder and then repeat for the other side. The down side of this is that you will need approximately 3 hands, most people I know only have 2 p.s. don't get any wd40 on your pads. In fact take them out 1st, better safe than sorry
JT!
What you need to do is undo your tpa (red star) untill the both pads go right back to the cylindars. You'll now find that you need to pull the leaver right back to the bars to make the brake work, that's normal. Now undo the bolts that hold the magura cylindars in place and set them up nice and close to the rim. Some people use a 2p coin in between the brake pads and the rim, the 2p coin width is a good distence of a gap to have between your brake pad and your rim. When they are set up nice and close to the rim, and bolted back down, when you pull the leaver now it shouldn't come all the way back down to the bars, now all you do is use the tpa (red star) to ajust the brake to how you like it. Becuase now you have little tpa ajustment, both pads should retract nicely. If after doing this you still find one of the pads isn't comming back proporly, repeat what you have just done. Pay extra attention to the underlined part.
PV_Joker
Cheers for the advice dudes, especially the 2p coin bit, that's a great idea! I'll give it all a try this morning and hopefully my Maggies will be back to their usual selves. I'll just have to rope my GF into being the third hand.
