Hight Of Handelbars From The Ground.

Hey guys,

i just got my Echo Control frame here in israel.

i am starting to build it next week and wanted to know how high the handel bars should be off the ground?

i got a zoo riser and i still did not decide on a stem, from what i see in the pictures the bar is pertty low compared to what i have on my zebdi mk5.

btw i am 179cm tall if that helps.

Thanks,

hmm....difficult one this, it all depends on what feels best for you really, to be honest you just have to try out different stems, bars, different amount of spacers ETC. there isnt really a height where your suppose to have you bars, its all personal preference.

thanks

surely this stuff depends on a lot of other factors - chainstay length, wheelbase, the sweep of the bars, etc...

There's probably some sort of length somewhere on the bike that should be measured and ballpark figures for a 'nice' feel given, but I'm pretty sure that height from the ground ain't it. I would have thought it would be BB -> bars or back axle -> bars or something.

What the hell am I talking about? I know NOTHING about geometry, and have made 2 of the worst stem choices in history recently.

This is me shutting the hell up.

thanks guys, for all your answers.

i think it is a mesurment that needs to be calculated.

since you can put on bars with Spacers or without, and you can put a stem with a rise or without.

BB posistion and top tube length have to be a factor in decideing how high and far your bars are.

Far bars = high moment(torque)

High Bars = Less to pull to the get to point of balance and the wheel is lower to the ground when in that point.

i dont know if i am making any sence, and like other things i need to try it to decide, just thought since almost everything else is claculated this might be to.

Personal preference and observations:

High bars - easier taps, bunnyhops, larger gaps

Low bars - all the rest.

If you tilt the bars towards you, the bike will be more bunnyhoppable, will feel shorter, but most of the moves will be more difficult because of smaller leverage.

Just experiment with bar height and angle, you're bound to find the setup that suits you most.

With a level BB i would aim for 40"/41"..and then depending on the BB rise adjust accordingly..

generally speaking, thats WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY too high!

people always said my ashton had a very high front end, and that was 39'', and yes, it was pretty high!

on a control you want to aim for around 38'' id say. anything over 40 is just stupid on a control
