I Thought This Might Interest You Lot.

I'm surprised no one has flamed the fact that the mech hanger is part of the frame and not replaceable. :o

That would be my only complaint, that I can see from that picture.

I guess they're too busy with the seat...

This is not intended to be a retro bike, in fact we think it is truely cutting edge. It's right to say that it is not suited to those rabbit-like riders who gracefully dance with their two wheeled machines they call bicycles. What I find funniest is how you are all commenting on it's geometry, on a photograph taken from that angle!

Keep it calm, but keep it coming.

im not sure whether its cutting edge or not but what i do know is that it is quite possiblly one of most fantasticlly welded/put together frame ive ever seen, the workmanship is superb - I think it looks stunning and not a hint of CNCing in sight! TOP JOB! (Y)

BUT..

''2 wheeled machines they call bicycles'' , you mean our bikes? with 2 wheels, cranks, brakes, bars, stem, tyres etc.... just like an erm..... BIKE!!!! ;)

EDIT - sod the frame, have you seen that abi chick on the homepage? keep you damn titanium, im going for the lady skin everytime!!!! jeeeeez, shes wonderful! :)

the bullet ends are kool aint they (Y):)

whats wrong with the seat????

i think people should read Martyn Ashtons article in MBUK this month. a trials bike MTB is now not really a MTB trials bike, it only nower days has the 26" wheels of a MTB. pretty much most other aspects of a MTB have jumped outta the window, i think people should be more appreciative of what news people have to offer, i know some people aint going to like it and posting there opinion is the bit that can cause the "corruptness" BUT saying "the geometry looks crap" or "its got a seat" its to someones liking if you dont like it, dont worry bout it, no one is forcing the sale on you, as the frame is only made for Akrigg.

i like the geometry of that bike nick, any chance of a duplicate  like it says somewhere in the thread the Geometry is "Akrigg Styleeeeeeeee" its what he wants not what other people want.

Waynio..........................

Nice cup of coffee anyone?oh wait a mo, iv got to go to the post office. :P

Can anyone explain to me why Ti frames have "bullet ending" on the tubes before dropouts?

You can actually choose what shape it will be at the Chinese factory :)

Whether it is a bullet or a pistol or dildo :)

Concerning the mech hangers....they should be changeable. This is trials, not XC. Yes, you can bend back Ti hangers many times. But if you bend the hanger while doing a sidehop - that means your mech/tensioner gets f*cked every time. Titanium is a strong material. So your tensioner will have to feel all this pressure. Why not put a silumen hanger? It breaks without hurting the frame and drivetrain.

Yeah, but why do they have thos endings every Ti frame I've seen has some sort of ending before the dropouts, is there a reason for it?

Many thanks for letting me know that this is a trials frame and not an XC one.

Please note this is a prototype for a specific purpose. It is not a production frame. If we wanted a replaceable mech hanger on there then we would have put it on, but we dont want one so we didn't. I do appreciate the helpful advice regarding mech hangers and titanium frames though.

There is a reason actually.

Dropouts on Ti frames are not usually thicker than 6mm. If you make it fatter - then it costs more, it is harder to laser cut/machine it and it will weigh more.

Alu frames have dropouts that are thick enough at the end to meet the whole stay tube diameter.

In Ti you would have to bend the tube (ovalize it) so it would become 6mm at its end. Bending does not look as sexy as the bullet shaped hollow framing (insert).

At the stay side it is round meeting the stay shape. At the dropout end the insert is the shape of a dropout. Easy, nice looking. And it compensates the shapes of two junctions.

I know Ti frames where this inserts haven't been used. Still strong and running well. But looking a bit simpler.

Many thanks for letting me know that this is a trials frame and not an XC one.

That was my opinion. I was not letting anyone know.

Funny reaction though :)

So when are people going to start complaining that DH riders need to start riding rigid, canti-braked steel frames instead of their current huge full sus rigs, because more people used to ride bikes like that? And that XC riders need to ditch their new carbon-fibre framed, ultra-lightweight full sus bikes and ride some generic frame just so more people might want to get into it?

I don't ride trials as an advert for the sport, I ride it because I love riding it. If people talk to me about it, I will always promote the sport to them. In actual fact, when I'm out riding I get faaaaaar more people talking to me about my bike simply because it's seatless, has drilled and ground rims, and has a disc on the front and a hydraulic rim brake on the back. They're even more surprised though when you tell them just how cheap you can get the full build bikes now, especially compared to the prices of comparatively speced DH and XC bikes and the like.

People aren't all stupid; they can understand that there will be specialist equipment in every sport/hobbie in the world. I don't see why trials should be held back, simply so more people could do it? Riders like Vincent Hermance and Benito Ros and the rest of the "seatless" brigade are pushing trials. No, they're not pushing it in the same direction as riders like Akrigg and Leech, but they ARE pushing the envelope. They're doing things people didn't even consider before, and are constantly coming up with new moves. Simply watch the older videos from them, the Koxx Days videos from over the years, and the Nopogo videos to see just how much they've advanced the trials scene in the past few years. They are all riding their own signature frames now too, and they're riding better than ever, and they feel they benefit from a specialised frame. Bearing in mind we're talking about current world champions and some of the most talented riders there have ever been on a trials bike, it's not like they're not in the know about frame design and so on?

I just don't get how people can say we should limit top end trials bike designs simply so some random person who may happen to see someone ride a trials bike will think they'd be able to get into it more...

It's not like there's a winner though. There are loads of different ways you can ride trials, but when you get the whole "People should ride ________" ideas it kinda f**ks things up. The fact we've got a whole spectrum of bikes covered from stuff like the Acid-Drop to the Toxsin frames to the Ashton Justices to the Leeson 24s to the Levelboss XTPs and stuff - it's all good, so it seems a bit odd saying we should all use seats or all use steel frames or whatever.

function is always 1st over looks, which is obviously second, but there is nothing not to like about that frame gd effort! (Y)

EDIT: the fact that there are so many different types of frame is gd isn't it.. freedom of choice, can't be bad.. why moan, u don't like something or don't think it's suitable have what u do like.. simple.
