RichardS
Hi,Thanks for a brilliant website, the amount of info on here is incredible. I struggle to keep up, items are posted faster than I can read.I miss a day and there's pages and pages to scan through.Anyway I've been looking for local off street places for my lad to ride (he's 9, he's just starting, we're in Leeds).Went to the track at Yeadon Tarn which he really enjoyed.Checked out the Works (indoor BMX track in Leeds) but it didn't look too good for a trials ride so we gave it a miss.On Sunday we went to Shipley Glen, expecting to find lots of riders. He really enjoyed it there but we didn't see any other riders.Where abouts do you all ride at Shipley Glen ?In searching on here I've seen mention of Addingham …. I can find it on the map but where do you ride ?Are there any other recommended places for a young lad in West Yorks ?I'd be grateful for any info.Thanks.Richard. mat hudson
i think your best option is to get in contact with some of the riders in leeds, they can show him/you some good places to ride. some of them should see this thread soon. Bucky
on sunday the usual rider who go to shipley glen would have been at the tytketrial comp.best bet is to go see waynio at airevalleycycles and speak to him cos he knows just about every ride thats happening and who goes where. Telecat
Addingham Moorside is where you need to be. The Directions from Leeds are to head out to Ilkley and go straight through as though you are heading to Skipton. As you go past Addingham on the By-pass you will come to a Roundabout with turn-offs to Silsden and Skipton. Take the Silsden turn off. Take the next turn on the left about 100 yards up on the left. This is signed "Addingham Moorside". There are also some flags at the moment that direct you to "Bike Trial". Go up this road until you get to a Crossroads. Turn right and about 200 yards down take the first left )Light Bank Lane if I remember correctly). The gate is down the road on the left. It's a bit of a narrow road so be a little careful with traffic. The Venue always has a number of Motorcycle and Bicycle Trials riders and it's a pound a bike for Bicycle's and £2 for Motorcycle's. There will be the Motorcycle National at the beginning of August and the Venue is closed by Yeadon-Guiseley & DMC while that's on and I'm not sure if the Bicycle Trials International is there this year but that's usually a week or so before. Brian Bleech
i am from leeds there are a fair few people that ride street there, the uni and the playhouse/quarry house are too good places to ride, although you have to watch out for security at the uni.also meanwood woods has some half decent natural, if you have a look around shipley glen is good and we sometimes head up there in the evening and generally we go further afield at the weekend. I know a few people are going up to addingham this sunday.Mike
