Tar?

I just started a forum similar to this only about rim grinding. It looks like everybody is grinding their rims now, I expect you could get your rims ground by most good metalworking firms very cheaply if you ask nicely  , but otherwise trials bike shops will do it.

Why dont you use the search mate, its indicating in the bottom right hand corner.

This is a crap thread and deserves to be closed, you dont use puncuation properly and its a really pointless topic.

I doubt people are actually intrested in this and the information you attampt give is awful.

Please dont post another thread this dull.

Its easier doing it yourself with a grinder.

Last time i ground my rim it had the worst brake ever.

If you know how to put tar on proporly you get a much more powerful brake then you ever will with a grind.

Awaits dissagrement, but i still haven't been on a bike with a more powerful brake then mine. And my pads are worn down at stupid angles.

thats all well and good if your a dirty street eater, but at comps grinds are much more consistant, especially when it rains or you have to ride through a stream

Guy setting up lines in comp: Ohh i know, i'll make them ride through this stream, then though this great big puddle of mud, then this 50 degree rock face, that'll be fun!!

2 hours later at that very section....

JT: I'll take the 5.

Hey..

What i do to make my brake good:

Grind my rim (from the top of my wheel downwards)

+

boiling water to soften my pads

= good sound :P and holds really well but make sure u bed it in after softening your pads

I only tend to use tar when my grind wares out and i have CRM Plazematic pads on a Koxx rim (Y)

Cheers Jack!

The only reason I use tar is because my rim doesn't hold grinds very well. It appears to me that the more competent riders use grinds and oppose of tar but the more " casual risers" seem to use tar. I'm sure when we get to eg CLS' riding level we will hate the stuff. Welll thats my guess anyway.

I find that after a grind or just after a couple of weeks riding is if i got some car alloy wheel cleaner good strong stuff brush some on the rim gives a really nice break afterwords just gets rid of all the crap on you rim.
