redsol
Hey,I have a rear revolver single speed and it works absolutly fine, never had any problems in the 6 months or so that I've used it. I run it with an ACS Claw freewheel and It works great.I have no idea what the cassette hubs are like though if that's what you meant. Will
CurtisRider
ive had both front and rear revolvers(disc and non disc) and each have been superb, cant grumble at allas for welding the rim, dont bother, just run it cracked, itll probably last longer
Fishy
I use the cassette hub, it is horrible, works fine for about 2 weeks, then the axel snaps, or the bears start to creak. It would be far cheaper and easier to go with the ss hub. They seem to last a lot longer

Tom Booth
I have the rear with an ACS and its perfect. Simple, and really effective. Only things to go wrong really are the axle snapping (can't see that any time soon) or the freewheel shitting the bed. But I replaced mine every 6 months anyway (freewheel). So S'all gooood. Could always run one wih an eno? or a fixed cog and ffw?Tom

adamtrials
Are the casette hubs any different to the singlespeed hub apart from the obious lack of casette? Are the axles and most of the hub body the same?
Krisboats
Are the casette hubs any different to the singlespeed hub apart from the obious lack of casette? Are the axles and most of the hub body the same?Pretty much.As to the split... i dont think it will last long after being welded, although i've never tried and never heard of anyone welding their rim i could only imagine that it would be the same as with frames in that fter welding the area thats been heated is weaker so i wouldn't be suprised if the rim was to crack in the areas around the weld after having it fixed. The only thing i could suggest really is to buy a new rim. Maybe someone who knows more can help you out a bit better.
2sixstreet
I have a snapped chainstay on an '05 Saracen (yes another one!) and am going to weld using a different technique which doesnt melt the parent metel, hence reduces the effect of heat affected zone and future breaks. Its a type of brazing rod which my old man uses to fix ladders, rebuild castings etc. This could be just the thing for your rim.I plan on doing this work by the weekend so if successful will post pictures and info. And even if it doesn't then atleast you did try. Edited June 13, 2006 by loffa
